98 mark won't start, but cranks over fine, I've read the ckp sensor is a very common failure, what is minimum fuel pressure during cranking? I also have a spare ECM, just wondering what else are common failures to cause the no start, gonna try and tackle this after work tonight so I can use the car b4 winter hits

Fuel filter has been done, didn't change anything. Anti theft light is out, the car will start with a squirt of ether, but will stall within 5 mins of idling

No stored codes, when I do get it started it has 29 psi fuel pressure idling, goes up to 38 When I snap the throttle.

Start the car with fuel pressure gauge attached and let it run till it dies. See if your fuel pressure falls off right before it dies. Not uncommon for a fuel pump to get hot and quit pumping.

IF you turn the key to on once, what is the fuel pressure? Does it decrease to zero immediately?

Car didn't die out as normally would so I shut it off with the key and fuel pressure actually rose steadily up to 38 once I shut the key off, tried cranking with the static 38 psi and the pressure never drops. im thinking its time to bite the bullet and slap the crank sensor in it. the worst part is that once it starts the car has tach signal, but i guess that could be taken from Cps instead.

Have you actually looked at the connector for the sensor. Many a time, you can simply disconnect/reconnect that connector a few times and it fixes the problem. Corrosion is the issue.

The connector was pretty soaked in compressor oil from what appears to be the case seals on the compressor leaking. I did end up pulling the compressor to the side and slipped a new crank sensor in, and sure as ever it fired right up and has been behaving since. Thanks for the help and guidance

Yeah my connector was junk once so I just bought a pigtail spliced it up and haven't had a problem since
