98 4r70w high performance rebuild kit

Got all mine from Baumann also, rebuild, shift kit,3500 stall converter, and all the small stuff, spent allot of phone time with them, fantastic customer service.

What's up with your stock trans?I don't see a trans cooler in your signature .

Yep, my trans is 100% stock 98 4r70w with Mobil 1 synthetic mercon 5... no tranny cooler, j-mod or anything like that...

If it's working well then why do you want to rebuild it? If I was you ,I'd put a trans cooler ,trans temp gauge and J- mod it.It's not a power that kills 98 transmissions ,it's the heat.98 is a very strong trans and it'll take a lot of power and abuse if it isn't running hot .

I agree, if the trans works good no notable problems just do the J Mod and add a cooler or get a Baumann shift kit, same principle as the J mod with a little more versatility and torque correction.
As for the "little stuff" I installed a 4R75 valve body, new pressure regulator and valve, over drive valve ect... with the stage 4 kit and 3500 stall.
PS my tranny was a little tired to be throwing 400HP at it. If it was in good shape I would have left it alone, heat is there big killer....

Well the tranny has 107k miles on it, I figure if i had to drop it to install the torque converter why not rebuild it at the same time?

Dropping the tranny to install a torque converter is a good time to do a J-mod or install a Baumann kit but I wouldn't rebuild it if it didn't show symptoms of failing.

Look for bcautomotive for rebuild supplies as well.

OK I'm just gonna install the Baumman kit and a tranny cooler. Anyone know a tranny cooler kit that comes with all the fittings?

Talk to the people who really know... and I mean really know and you will find that OEM parts with some hand done hard mods will be much better than any "built" parts...

JP aka Driller reccomends the Baumann kit and he has the fastest bolt on Mark VIII...

so you are saying that an oem tranny is better than a lentec, TCI or a professional built tranny you need to do some research a stock tranny might hold 600 hp and there are many people with more than that do they use magic oem parts that can hold the power
my tranny guy has been building trannys for alot years how about yours if he is good he can tell you that there are some good oem stuff and other oem stuff that needs to be upgraded
and instead of being a jack ass like others here why dont you explain your wisdom and tell us these hand done hard mods
I only asked what i dint say you are a dumb ass

Hahahahahahaha... Seriously when it comes to the clutch packs the clearances are infinitely more important than some unobotanium carbon kevlar uber performance clutch.

What hard parts usually fail in a 4r70w when you DON'T do things like WOT 3,4 shifts or 4,2 downshifts?
