94 Mark VIII Interior facelift Progress

They look very nice, even if it took you a month, I think it would be worth it. I did some painting in mine when I changed out the door panels to 2nd Gen. I used a degreaser and did things basically the same way i did when I painted the car. One thing I noticed after some time was the paint would flake a little. I contributed to the many small depressions in the texture of the vinyl and plastic, very minimal spots. Especially the foot guard where the parking brake release was. If I accidentally would kick it, it would scuff and just didn't respond well to cleaning it up. I'm not saying you will experience the same thing, but what I did was to put a flat clear over everything and it's been over 2 years now and everything looks the way it did from the first day. I also noticed it help blend any uneven spots. The surface looked just like factory. Just something to think about. Again, the interiors look 100% better. Just used paint thinner on everything. It actually started to rub off the saddle color in spots. And KC, you car is saved in my favorites, I want to do gen2 door panels, just waiting patiently until some come along.

Cool:D Thanks man! I got lucky and found a guy in the newspaper that had just totaled his with 54,000. He had already sold the motor and body to another guy. I originally went out to buy a new steering wheel from him, didn't even know he had the whole car there. When I saw the door panels, I knew I didn't have a choice, I had to have them. I was ready to give him pretty much what ever he wanted. The wheel was $50, so when he said how about $100 I thought he meant for each panel so I kind of played it down like, that's a little high. Then as a good buyer should, I didn't say anything and let him start the conversation again. That's when I realized he was saying $100 for everything. He also said, for the $100 take what ever you want from the interior (Seats were already gone too). So, basically I got them for $25 each. It was a good day! I'm real happy how they turned out. Again, I really think you made a great decision to redo the interior, it looks very nice:cool:

Don't forget to get the back panels as well, you need them so everything matches.

Ya... i know about the rear panels matching... I gave that some thought, but figured as hard/expensive it will probably be to get 2nd gen quarter trim panels, I think I might just live with the mismatch unless they are cheap and I can't pass it up, ya know?
 
I know this is resurrecting an old thread, but I just wanted to update... It has been over 2 years since I painted the dash and it still looks just as good as it did at the time. I highly recommend ...
