So what do you guys think?
93 Mark VIII (158K)
  • exhaust
  • fuel pump upgrade (255)
  • Of course its a 93!!
  • LMS spark plug wires

97 Mark VIII(104K)
  • SCT tune by reinhart
So by how because do you think the 93 will pull on the 97 Mark VIII?

I will have the video up by tomorrow(by 2:00 am), so lets see who gets it the closest;)

93 should be faster...

Couldn't say by how much though, neither car is stock, plus you haven't said what kind of comparison.

That's a tough one... I don't know which one is heavier...

93 really only has an exhaust... the plug wires aren't much of an upgrade and you're not making use of the extra available fuel on a car that is essentially stock.

97 has a tune...

I'm going to say the 97 is faster; if only to disagree with blue. It could be neck and neck..

Excellent vid! I see the 93 walked away in every comparison test... I suspected the 93 would be faster, but didnt think the difference was gonna be that big. :)

Put exhaust on the 97 and see what happens, i'm betting it will breathe a whole lot better above 80mph.

The 93 pulling at higher speed prolly has a bit to do with the 255 fuel pump. The 97 just might be running out of fuel at higher speeds and rpms.

^^ Thats what i was thinking too! Custom tunes tend to expose a weak original pump. (i know on Blue Oval's site, they recommend replacing an old, stock pump in prep for their tunes)

Also, the 93 has a slightly lower curb weight. (not sure of its relevance in this case though) and a better flowing intake manifold.

yea after an exhaust, I think I will keep upi with him after 80mph. I usually had him till about 72 MPH when he starts to just pass me like I am standing still.

I am glad to see that you are taking care of my baby very well. She is in good hands.;) Can you imagine if I had changed the gears in that 93? She would've been even quicker. You can get your 97 up to speed by doing the same upgrades to it like I did to the 93.

The difference between my 94 and my 96 was night and day. The 94 was simply faster everywhere, and the 96 had quite a few less miles.

i saw a gen 2 on the highway a few weeks back, torched em. I was highly surprised, because my 93 needs a good tuneup.

Now here's my thinking, If the intake is the main difference between the two (other than weight) what if you were to put the cobra intake on the gen 2? Would that open things up a bit and make it equal or better? Or would it cost low end power for top end?
