I know the topic is probably beat to death but i have to ask. is it worth saving the cash. i can get a 93 one peice for 150 shipped. or is it better to add another 300 and get one of the after market drive shafts. im gearing up to install 4.10 gears and i dont want the vibration crap that comes with the 2 peice.

thanks for the info.

well then im gonna snag the 93 and hold on to it. just not sure if 150 is a good deal or a bit much. i mean compaired to 450-600 for an after market one its a steal in my book.

Most 93 shafts go for 80-100 + shipping...shipping is around 20 bucks.

I have a 4" Dynotech Driveshaft and have no complaints, for most the 93 driveshaft may be enough...I however have different plans and went with the larger one.

Sounds a bit on the high side but much better than the additional $300 for something that isn't going to really be any better than the 93 shaft. Most are right at $100 and if found in the JY, less than half of that. They're out there.

Yea i thought it was high as well. the shaft its self only 70 but the bastard wants 79 to ship it. thats why havnt pulled the trigger on it just yet.

I've shipped many a driveshafts...

25 bucks I think is the most I've ever on shipping buying or selling one...

Some people have had good luck with 93 shafts, some have reported problems. I have no idea what the critical speed is on a 93 shaft. I'm guessing it should be alright with just 4.10 gears.

I was lucky and found a 4" driveshaft for $200 which was too good of a deal to pass on.

$70 for shipping... The butler must be taking it down from the penthouse and giving it to the door man and then the doorman is taking it out to the limo so that the driver can take it and have it gift wrapped at Macy's, then taken to the post office for overnight delivery. By the time everyone is tipped, yeah, it would be $70

I shipped a 93 shaft and it was around $20 or so, Priority Mail.

It depends on MPH and if you plan on staying N/A.
If you want to go 100 MPH or faster very often pass on the 93 shaft.
If you go deeper then 4.10s I would also pass on the 93 shaft.
Just my 2cents.

I have been running a 93 shaft with 4.10s for 3 years.
If I did it again on a N/A car I would go 4.30s aftermarket shaft.
Don't fear the RPM.

The drivehaft in that auction might not be the correct 93 one. The trans end shown is welded on all 93-98s. You have to look on the diff end.

Any 19 year old, unknown mileage shaft should be gone thru with new u-joints, and balanced to give max performance and reliability.

Slapping it as-is would be crazy, especially since they usually come from wrecked, or yard-forked cars.

All of a sudden it's not such a great deal when you factor in $120-$150 for the drivehaft, $40-$50 for u-joints, and $60-$90 for true high speed balancing.

Running 120mph at the 1/4 track once in a while doesn't mean that it's good enough to use daily at 100+ speeds.

The stock shaft wall thickness, and diameter was designed for maybe 140mph with 3.07 gear (that's already pushing it), but not for that speed with 4.10 or lower gear.

There are ways of doing things, and then doing things right ;)

With mine being supercharged with 4:10 gears it is hitting over 120 mph at times at the end of the 1/4 mile with no problems. thats much higher than a 4:30 geared N/A car. But since it is a mass produced part I imagine they are not all the same. But there is no doubt I got a good one. Lincoln Mark VIII solo 11.72@120.22mph - YouTube

Dan just installed one in his car two days ago and has zero vibrations, new universal joints and says it rides like a dream now. As long as the car it was removed from wasn't wrecked bad enough to maybe bend it in such a way that it can't be noticed by the naked eye or the forklift that hauls the cars around didn't happen to lift up on it or has never been stacked on top of something that could have messed it up, they should all be good. Might need to be balanced but shouldn't. New universal joints would be one thing I would do to it and then have it tested for balance.

If the U-joints are "good ones" and it's balanced, it's going to handle anything that 99% of the forum members here have under the hood. No need for spending extra on something that you can't even see anyway. It's not adding to the performance. Yes, they look pretty in hand but once installed and the car is down, what's it look like then? Juss sayin...

Depends on how fast your money order gets here... I don't mess with paypal

Trippen, I don't need the 93 shaft lol. I was just messin with Sapper. I had one and sold it for $100 and all it was doing was leaning up in the corner of my garage. Sapper will hook you up and yes, I would get one from him before I would from someone on eBay. I'm not into all the modding and drive on the HWY at an average of 70 to 85 so, a one piece would be useless for me or I would have kept the one I had. I don't even remember who I sold it to on here.

Its all good. i dont go fast either. but when i do i dont want to have to worry about it after i upgrade to the 4.10's luckily i get to drive 80 to work every morning on the 2 mile sprint down the high way. gonna make morning traffic a little more fun.

These cars rarely have the driveshaft hurt because the shaft is tucked up so high in the chassis. I installed a 93 shaft that I bought from the LKQ for $20 and then I added a pair of MOOG u-joints for an additional $30 for the pair. Installed it last week and it is a night and day difference with my 3:73s. Car used to shake from 35 on up, not anymore...
