Well I have been looking for a mint Mark to keep as a summer only car for a while. About a year ago I decided that I would buy a Mark and it had to be either a 93, 96, or a 98. It also had to be all stock and original and have less than 100k on the clock. After checking clist, carsoup and ebay regualrily I think I found it.

It's a rare color combo, geussing by the crappy pic Artic White with Mocha interior, both 93 exclusive colors. I just saw this tonight and will be calling tomorro, hopefully it is as nice as it looks.

lmao dude, first off its parked in snow, its a 93 with 85k and they are asking 5 grand?????????????????????????????????

its so rare that my buddy mike has 2 of the exact same cars, same color, same interior, and one has only has 43k on it original, and it has the chrome 20 spokes, and its always been a florida rot free car, and he is asking the same price for half the miles. i just had it in my shop for a trans flush and detail. the other one is exactly the same too, inside and out and also has chrome 20 spokes on it and 80k on it, that one he is asking $3990.00 for. i'm not sure where you are located, but it might be worth a plane ride here, im not trying to sell the cars for him, because i get nothing out of it, but both cars are mint. they are exactly the same in everyway, twins, and both 93's. here is a link to the one with 80k on autotrader.

and here are a few pics of the other with 43k. it does not have these wheels on it anymore, it now has chrome 20 spokes.

That was a very positive post Jamie, thanks for :q:q:q:qting all over my hopes. I case you didn't know it not every where is the Lincoln center of the world like Florida. I have been looking for Marks around me (Minnesota) and have found 2 that weren't hammered, EVER! I say that it is rare based on being a 93 only color not that it is ultra rare and worth thousands. I personally have little interest in buying a car online that is 2000 miles away, I'd rather sit in it and drive it and crawl under it personally. So what if it is parked on snow, it might be really clean. I've lived in Minnesota all my life, this is just what happens.

I haven't even looked at it yet, who knows they won't negotiate on the price? Those two cars you posted do like nice though.

btw... is Mocha the correct interior name?

yes it is mocha. i know you want to see and drive and look it over i dont blame you, but i am the lincoln guy of florida, this is all i do, i would never steer anyone wrong. like i said i get nothing out of these cars, if i work on them i get paid like anyone else would, but i know both these cars inside and out, these two cars seriously are mint, i would buy one myself, but i will not own another white one, i already have, so i need a color i havent had!!!

if you were looking to spend up to 5 grand, if you came here to look at either one of these cars, you would drive home in one. but i hear you on the distance, i found a killer deal on a black 96 lsc in ohio, but killer deal or not, its too far for me to go, and i looked into transporting too, best quote was 695 door to door, but the car has a blown motor, which i would have to swap, after the price, the transport, and the labor to swap a motor in, its not such a killer deal anymore ya know!!

Hey Kustom! If you got the time, fly down here, hang out for a couple days and drive one back up! :)

Thats the problem, I don't have the time to make it down to Florida. I don't doubt you one bit that those cars are probably in better shape than the 93 by me is, I wish one of those was by me. I also gaurantee that I won't buy it if they don't budge on the price. The unfortunate things is the 80k car for $4000 would turn into a $5000+ car once I got it here.

If I look at the car and it isn't in that good of shape or there are any major issues, I'll walk away.

I really like the white though, I have some good ideas of what to do for wheels and tires if I do get it.

Went and looked at the car today, and Jamie was right... ugh.

The thing was a pile, I mean a total pile. The paint was in terrible shape, had a bunch of chips that had been painted over, with gloss white. The underbody was junk too. The interior was also not in the best shape, nothing was damaged but it was overall very dirty. It did run good though, and the air ride was working perfect.

Well you win Jamie, looks like I might have to buy a Florida car.

I ran into the same thing looking for a good Mark up here. Everything looked good in the pictures, they told me they were mint, but when I got there... well... different story!
Once I figured out the costs of getting a good car up here from Florida, they would be minimally more than up here, but if done right, the cars are in better shape (no salt, etc.) Mind you, Marks up here do go for a lot more money than Florida, more along the prices you see.
I almost passed up going to look at the '94 I have now as the owner understated the conditon greatly & it was a 6hr+ round trip, but from the condition of the vehicle I ended up with, I made a very good deal indeed.
Good deals come along, you either need to wait for them or plan accordingly and do some research & travelling...

I saw that too, and judging what you said I wouldn't give him more than a K for it, the only positive thing that I can see is that the headlights are clear.

Why not go for a vacation in Florida and buy yourself one of those two gems...(Go with the 43K)lol

I can't afford to fly down to Florida, and then pay for gas to drive it back home. The combination of paying to do these things and then not working because I'm driving a car from Florida.

I've done a lot of thinking about my car situation, and have decided to save some money up and buy a really clean Mark. It might cost more, but a clean chassis to start with is better than fixing up a pile.

I'm not going to make any hasty decisions, going to wait for the perfect one to come along.

Factor transportation costs into your cost of ownership.
You're going to want a Southern car. No salt. No snow. No hills. All flat highway driving.

I wouldn't even bother looking for a gem in Minnesota. If it's half-way decent, you'll pay a premium. Around here, they're all over.

markviiiedrea has driven to florida alot how much does it cost for gas one way
I would think in the off season that a plane ticket would only be $200 or so

Jamie is in an area with plenty of busy airports around it. With a few weeks notice, you can probably get round-trip tickets through Orbitz for under $250, and probably for $150 through PRICELINE naming a price.

you are roughly 1700 miles from me, if you average 22 mpg on the way home you'll get roughly 396 miles to the tank, 1700 divided by 396 is 4.2 tank fulls at aprox 3 bucks a gallon would be a little under $230 bucks in fuel to drive back home if you bought a car from florida.

Hang in there Kid, I got mine in Minneapolis. It was garaged for 3 yrs, and is in pretty good shape. Not what your looking for (mine is a 94) but hey, they are out there.

I got 26 miles to the gallon, and it was 1586 miles from Blaine to Daytona beach, took about 66 gallons to get there, so 66 x 3 = 198.00 ish one way or buy me a case of beer and I will fly anywhere and check the car out for you, I fly for free so I don’t mind.

I got 25.7 on my 93 and 24.6 on my 97 which was a 400 mile trip

I've over 210k miles on my engine.
The IMRC is leaking a little air.
And I still have been averaging between 24-26mpg on the highway as I've been bouncing back and forth between Florida and Virginia this month..

After checking everything out it would be way cheaper to fly down and drive back.

I'm just going to start looking for cars down south until I find the right one, and then it won't see snow or bad weather when it gets up here. I don't mind paying a little more to get a low miles clean car, it will be stored for the better part of the year up here and won't get many miles.

I don't really care that much about the year or color combo, I like all the Marks, but for some reason I like 93's a lot.

If I were to buy a first gen mark 8 today.
I would "hold out" and find a nice 96 LSC.

It'll already have the HID's {a plus)
ALSO it's an odb2 car rather than an eec IV car.
This might sound "trivial" but your "tuning options" are far more robust with an OBDII car... most notable is there is a good solid datalogging option for OBDII that doesnt exist for EEC IV cars.

Tuning an EECIV car without datalogging is like "paint by numbers in a closet with the lights turned off".

Kinda of like...I started out painting a nice CASTLE and WOUND UP with a COOL picture of a CACTUS!

Had I known in 1999 what I know now, I wouldn't have bought the 95 I have, would have gotten a 96!
