HI guys, so i have a 2002 ls v8 bought new in dec 2001. I have 39,000 miles on it. Today driving home on the highway doing 70 to 75 miles an hour half mile from home breaking for a red light i had to press hard on the brake to stop and thats when i notice my car was revving above 2000 rpms in gear out of gear it would stay at 3000. got home and parked the car in my driveway with engine running had some antifreeze on the ground. looks like its coming from the thermostat cap. its wet around that area. all hoses are dry and degass bottle is dry. its only down a little. i replaced all hoses degass bottle put in aluminum tower a few years ago. there is anti freeze on some electrical wiring plugs on the driver side front. turn car off restarted still 3000 rpms.. no warning lights on dash wont be able to check and codes till tomorrow. Any ideas. Thanks Nick love my ls

Yea the IAC Valve is the first thing i would suspect when having a idling problem and no codes. Any air hissing sounds? I would also check my vaccum system for any dryrotted or broken hoses. Post back an let us know what you figure out.

I'd check that the throttle linkage or throttle cable is not sticking anywhere.
You can do that in the engine bay OR by feeling the response of the accelerator pedal.
Thanks for the reply Firebrian. linkage is good. changed out the iacv. rpms does not stay a 3000. on cold start it goes to 1800 and slowly drops down to 900 but when i press the gas pedal it stumbles. have a new tps coming in a few days. also going to clean the mass air flow sensor. car has only 39000 miles on it. great shape inside and out. this is the first time i have this problem.
