The 2012 modding has begun. Nothing to crazy. Just some simple mods I came up with.

1. installed high beam headlight bulbs in the fog-lights. Silly mod, but huge visiblity gains.

2. Shaved driverside key-hole. Thanks to MrHowie. I purchased a kit that he put together to shave the key-hole and prevent someone from unlocking the door by punching through under the doorhamdle at the seam. Need to paint the handle and install.

3. Front cross member plastic cover. Plan to paint an extra one I got for a LVC member that no longer needs it.

4. New oil cap. Silly mod. But good for car shows. More dress for the engine bay.

5. Polishing foglights, headlights, and spare set of headlights I am using for my new angel-eyes with painted bezels. Need to order the angel-eyes kit still.

6. Install more LED lights to current kit.

7. Headrest monitors.

8. Want to do Gen 2 door mirrors. Can't find a set for a decent price. If anyone comes across a pair, PM me.

I like the door handle mod, I assume its a drivers side rear? Whats this kit you speak of that Mr. Howie has put together? Pics?

I have seen a lot of pics of your engine bay, and I still love the cleanliness. Good mods. Can Mr. Howie post something about doing the shaved keyhole?

I also like the door handle mod but I actually use the feature that closes the windows when you turn and hold the key to the lock position. I tend to leave the sunroof vented on accident. I plan on picking up some strut covers and painting them like yours (only mine will be black). Any pointers on how to properly prep them for paint?

When I painted mine I used a self-etching primer in 2 light coats and alot of light coats of paint. Make sure the plastic parts are as clean as possible or the paint will bubble (learned that the hard way). I am no paint pro but this method worked for me on my engine cover and strut covers.

I use this all the time. :D

bmxbang & centason: MrHowie has a write up with instructions on LLOSC. He showed me his shaved handle. Cool trick item. I purchased the door handle and small kit from him for a very good price. If your interested, PM MrHowie.:)

What do you mean by "Prevent someone from punching through under the doorhandle"??

You can do it with your remote too.

Rollin, I like the handle mod, especially since I have been a victim of this. I will have to contact MrHowie on this. Although I still don't see how this prevents them from punching a hole right below the handle, popping off the handle and getting in likeI have seen 100 times before...

I need to edit that post..... Someone could still punch a hole through the seam. BUT they will not be able to unlock the door with this kit.

Several members have had the bad experience of finding holes under the driverside door handle. Someone has taken a screw driver or something like that to the underside of the doorhandle. Punch through the metal seam and unlocked the door. Scary to know how easy it is to brake into our cars without noticing.

So much for refinishing the foglights. I can't get the foglights without removing the Razzi front fascia. The Razzi front fascia prevents me from just popping them out the front. I will refinish them, when I repaint the car.

Monday, the headlight lenses get done and two information centers get fixed. One for me(mine broke last week) and one for another members. Drop off door handle and front cross member plastic piece for paint. Still need to find a set of Gen 2 door mirrors.

Ahh, ok. Damn, I didn't realise it was that easy lol.

Not sure about gen1.... But on Gen2 there is some type of reinforced steel pasted on the sheet metal around the driver's door handle.

Looks to be for anti theft measures.

There's a company that maskes the metal plates to prevent that. I'm not sure they make them for the LS, but I almost bought them when I had the Denali.

Polish the lenses to the new angel-eyes I am doing. Posted a seperate thread on I poished them with pictures.

Repaired the information center buttons. Had to repair two of them. Mine broke last week. I was already planning to repair one for e fellow LVC member. Used a urethane poxy. Needs to sit for a few hours. Then its good to go.

Got 2 more of the Colorstorm LED lights installed. Need to wire up the new brain. Have time on wednseday for that. It takes a few hours. I will post pictures of the new lights wednesday night. For now, 2 pics of the new locations.

10" tube under the CAI filter.

18" tube underside of trunk.

Thanks for the idea RollinLS.
The handle is from the rear door, it takes a little fab to install because the mount holes are different, front to back.
I didn't get a jimmie jammer kit, just removed the lock rod from the door. If they really want to get in they can.
I'll have to crawl through the back if I need to get in for dead battery. Actually I won't, my son or wife will....haha.
I'm going to eliminate the keyhole in the deck lid next winter and just relocate it under the car in the back in case of an emergency entry needed for dead battery.

Looks good. Yeah. I got the idea from MrHowie.

Mild LED light up-grade. I switched out the license plate light and reverse lights with LEDs. I will get pictures tonight of the up-grade.

Got the night shots. Took a few extra of the lights. I noticed the reverse LEDs seem to be on a low voltage, when the LS is not in reverse. Anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you fix it?
