On the way to work last Saturday morning, a young punk in a fartcan hit me head on around a sharp s turn. The cops were about 10 seconds behind him. He was traveling around 50 mph while I was driving around 20 mph. His car was destroyed and he was badly injured. I never had a bump, bruise or scratch. This was the second car chase this jerk was involved in and he had no license or insurance. The only damage was located in the direct front of the LS (grille, bumper lights and hood) and the fenders weren't even damaged. Kudos to Lincoln for building such a safe vehicle. But.... the front crossmember behind the bumper and the frame rails absorbed the shock and my insurance company totaled the car. SUCKS!!!
My LS was a 2000. I had the same problems that everyone on the forum seems to complain about. Window regulator, leaky valve covers damaging the coils, faulty environmental control, delayed shift into reverse, etc, etc.... But....I loved the car and it saved my ass, so I'm looking at another LS. I test drove a few 2002 models and a 2003. Now my question....were the notorious problems that I mentioned above fixed in the 2002 and later models? I just don't wanna go down that road of expensive repairs again. I'm hoping they fixed these bugs.
