15 MPG in City Traffic?!?!?

My buddy had the tool and very little gas came out (new ff 2k ago and no improvement on gas milage) ..Another idea to clear the line is leave the car running and press in the intertia switch in the trunk. If you dont know what that is, it's a switch that shuts off fuel pressure in an accident (iirc a little red button inside the cover located above or below the air ride switch). The line should then be rather dry.

If the fuel pump was replaced theres a good chance they replaced the filter to.

Seafoam it, then put a full tank of premium in the tank look for sunoco 93 and jam every last ounce in there, put a FULL can of seafoam in the tank with it.. I suggest putting in the seafoam first then fill tank to get a good mix.. run the piss out of the car and you should notice an almost immediate response... your mileage should go up considerably..

Good luck let us know how it works out for ya.
Bill

I cant afford a $9 can of seafoam right now..Yesterday i put in 7 worth of 89 octane @3.02 a gal..Went to a diff station today and 93 was 2.99...fu ck...its only a matter of pennies but still.

We'll see what the mileage says in the coming weeks.

***make sure you have the fuel line tool. $7 bucks at Vato Zone
something to consider...... purchasing a service manual for your Mark VIII off ebay.
i keep mine next to the throne so i always have good reading material on hand...
?

Fuel line tool? Granted its been 6 months since I have changed mine but I have changed them in my 97 and 98 a total of 8 times and dont remember ever using a tool. Just pulled out the little plastic lock and slid the lines off.

At any rate I am only averaging 17.2 for a 50/50 mix of city/hwy and thats 93 octane only.

Didn't you just go 140MPH!?!? :p

use 93 octane

it says on the dash board and on the gas door only premium fuel! if you use 89 it retards the timing to keep it from knocking . this has been proven many times . you are wasting your money running 89, your mileage drops substantially , how much would you pay to increase your mpg 2 to 4 mpg? i dont think my new exhaust system gave me that !!!!!! try it youll be surprised

i know i have to run 93.. but for whatever reason i ran 89.. retarted yes. But i figured 89 vs 91 wouldnt make that big of a difference..now 89-93 is abit more drastic..all the premiems arounds here vary as i'm sure they do in alot of places. The station i usually go to only has 91..thus explaining me getting 89 vs 91.

I use BP or V-Power only :)

It does not say that. Go reread them.

It says "unleaded fuel only, premium recommended", unless you have a blower, then you HAVE to use premium...or not, and I'll come put your new motor in :-)

Shoot I have always burned 87 the cheapest from the cheapest station, I have never sea foamed, I have had my injectors cleaned 2 times in 60,000 miles I have put on my car. I get 19 going back to forth to work and driving to church etc. I take my car yearly on a 2200 mile trip from Florida to Northen Indiana and get 25-26 miles a gallon burning 87. My car runs great (knocks on wood)

He has big heavy 19's on his Mark too. that figures in somewhat also. i think hes carrying around 400 lbs of amps, wires and big subs for that ooh ahh music:).

the stereo will only add maybe 60lbs..subtract no mufflers and were at about an extra 15-20lbs over stock.
