I just snagged a set of taylor 10.4mm wires. So searching around i couldnt really find any good examples and or pictures. I know some of you have the VMS racing wires. that are 10.4mm but i couldnt find your threads with pictures.

with that said my questions are as follow. What looms are you using? How many of each size did ya use? most importantly how did you handle the spark plug cover on the valve covers. I can't imagine 10.4mm wires fit with out some sort of modification being needed?

Pics or links to pics most desirable in this case. also id like to see how your wires are run as well.

Thanks.

I grabbed the

I use the LiveWires which are like 12mm with the cover. I use the billet separators.

did did you have any fitting issues where the cover on the valve cover is? and those are some beastly wires. are they just laid across the alternator?

No real fitment issues, it just took some tweaking with the separators to get it to lay just right. The bottom half of the OEM separators are on the alternator bracket. The wires do not actually fit in them but they do help hold them in place.

these are what i ended up going with. i figure between the red wires and the blue looms it should be ulgy as hell under the hood.

Those are pretty nice looking.

Received my actual products as far as the wire looms today. Im a little sadden by the fact they dont have the awesome name of sick speed on them. how is everyone gonna know they are better then the others. tisk tisk tisk. this doesnt really bother me to much. i mean it would be a nice touch if it was on them. but all i care about is the fact that they hold the wires. all though i did write some hate mail to the vendor to see if i can get something out of the deal. after all the pictures are very misleading.

On a side note I did get cool decals so maybe thats how people will know. i can put em next to my K&N one that crumbled up and turned to dust.

also grabbed a set of these. this is a first for me as i always use autolite764 coppers. but i thought id get these a try. nothing special but its different to me anyway.

The wires should be here in the next day or so. Im stoked about that. The MSD ones i have are old worn out and i just didnt really care for em to be honest.

Sarcasm? Or do you actually want branding on the wire separators? Hard to tell over the internet.

i could take it or leave it. i think it would be a nice effect to have the branding on it. but its not a take it or leave issue. however i am playing that card to the sell because they misrepresented the product. so at least i can annoy the piss out of him for a day or two.

I received my wires today. They are super beefy. The build quality of these wires surpass that of MSD wires. I am glad I did not go back to MSD again. I can't wait to get these suckers installed. Of course there will be some before and after pictures coming just because we all like pictures.

I also am receiving a 20 percent refund on my looms. The story I was given is they are indeed what i ordered however they were switching from decals to etched engraving for the labels on looms. I personally don't care but to get back a partial refund means they just because a better value :)

So upon closer inspection if ind one of the clips on the wires is broke. Is this going to be an issue or should it still clip up with no problems.

well it looks and feels like it would be okay. i tested the fit on one of my accel coil packs and it was nice and snug even with one clip. so we shall see how it turns out.

So here are the results. Did the be we could for trying to route the wires and make them look somewhat okay. there is a before we started picture. a after the plugs were changed and wires connected picture. a mostly done and a done picture. also included on some shots of the spark plugs that came out of it. i know you can tell certain things by the way the plugs look. mind you these plugs have been in the car for a year or longer. and the msd wires were on it since the first month i bought the car so for a while now. I personally did not think the plugs looked to bad but i dont know what the different stages of them are or what each stage means.

@Chris2523. its one wire. how would it drop 2 cylinders ?

This picture is from left to right. the first being the back drivers side plug then moving to the front and then over and then to the back passenger side.

Same thing with this pick but they are laid out as if they were in the engine.

The Before these are MSD 8.8mm

The mess after getting all the plugs changed and the wires connected up in order of firing order.

The mostly finished pic. basically they were kind of floating in the air over the alt.

The last picture is the way it sits now. I know its kind of ugly and im sure theres a better way to route the wires but its all i could figure out. There was 2 zip ties used to anchor the wires to the bracket where the alt was.

Of course I am open to suggestions. On a better way to route them. Also I can see that im long over do for a nice cleaning int he engine bay. So after the they were in went for a drive and the car felt more responsive. Could be a combo of the new wires and the new plugs. Or one or the other. Either way there was a noticeable difference in the go factor. The main reason for doing this is the economy of my car is craptastic. I get about 11.9-12.9 mpg average. My next step is to get a K&N filter cleaner gimmick. unless theres a better way trick to clean those filters. Mine has been in there for a while. So clean that and the MAF and hopefully ill get some of my mpgs back a little.

I have heard the term dont fear the gear but ever since i went to 4.10s and got tuned its been poo for mpg.

Thanks for any advice, compliments or critics I am glad to share these pictures and I am thankful for those who shares those. Of course Id love to see more lay outs as i have not really seen a SHOW YOUR WIRES thread yet.

the wasted spark system fires 2 cylinders together. one cylinder is in the power stroke, the other cylinder isn't. the spark is "wasted".

there are really only 4 coils in this 8 cylinder car. other Ford EDIS systems are the same.

Nothing really wrong with the routing, but you have the wires going in different directions from the coil pack(s).

If you look at Geno's, mine and others, you will see they all leave the coilpack in one general direction towards the center of the engine. I think it makes it look better.

If one coil dies, you'll lose two cylinders. Having one plug wire come loose only affects that particular cylinder.

Like JP said, it looks tidier with the wires leaving the coil packs in a group. Here are a few more plug wire pics for you.

it was my understanding that the coils circuit is completed by going in one plug and out the other. so breaking the circuit anywhere will bring down 2 plugs.
