2000 LS V8 has 267k on the majority of the car. Just had a brand new engine put in after it jumped timing and burnt the #4 valve. Just over 5k with the new engine. I Just bought a 2002 LS V8 with 115k miles on it and gave it to my mom. Runs like a champ!

2000 V8 252HP rating, IS that at wheels or at crank?

I do need some new rims or at least to refinish mine but cosmetic things are lower on the list. Performance comes first if its possible at all. I figure intake and exhaust is about all I can do. I have Noticed its much more responsive in SST mode than in Automatic.

2000 V8 252HP rating, IS that at wheels or at crank?

I have already deleted the Mufflers on mineand have been kicking around the idea of having the local shop remove resonators and put a dual in dual out thrush muffler in its place http://www.jegs.com/i/Dynomax/289/17637/10002/-1?parentProductId=. 2000 V8 252HP rating, IS that at wheels or at crank?

I wonder what a Muffler delete would do to those factory #'s if anything, i doubt its just Magnaflow mufflers doing that so I'm guessing its a cat back system that runs about 1k or more. I have always liked the look of the LS however I had no idea the limited nature of the beast as far as addons...

2000 V8 252HP rating, IS that at wheels or at crank?

Thanks for the info. So it seems the real world # for the LS is closer to 220-230 HP at the rear wheels depending on 1st or 2nd gen. Good to Know when Shopping for my next car down the road. It would be nice if manufactures would list real world power #s and not useless # like what the engine...

I did a few small burnouts, Nothing like the video above, before the old engine went belly up. After it went belly up in January I babied that thing until April 17th when I dropped it off for the swap. And yes with the timing off the way it was it had a very lopey idle like a true muscle...
