    Wheel Bearing or something else?

Hey guys, I have a 2003 TC Executive. I recently (2-3 weeks ago) had her in the shop for an intake manifold replacement, the shop I went to told me that RF wheel bearing had a lot of play and that I should get that replaced sooner rather than later. This morning, I was heading to work on...

    Possibly another LS down

Yeah I wouldn't have room for it to sit. I live in an apartment. I would love to keep it, and I would consider another LS, but we will see what insurance does for me

    Possibly another LS down

I got in a wreck Wednesday Long story short, I was turning left at a light, I had a green arrow, someone ran a red light, hit the person in the left hand-left turn lane who then hit me in the right hand left turn lane...nothing too serious for me. I am perfectly okay but the LS on the other...

    bad weather related issue ??

I live in MN and I have had almost the exact thing happen as described above by BigWayner. Feels like a misfire sometimes, or a shift where there shouldnt be a shift. It only happens to me in snow, either after or during the snow, but with the roads still pretty bad. I always kind of figure...

    Coolant system problems

http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/forum/showthread.php?91092-GenII-LS8-Cooling-System-Overhaul This is the thread that I referenced earlier. It would be a pretty good start for you. This is for a Gen II (2003-06), not sure which year you have. Only go with Motorcraft for Degas bottle for sure

    Coolant system problems

I would probably start looking at all of the plastic components of the cooling system. Thermo housing, any of the plastic Rad hoses and the Degas bottle. Cracks may appear strictly during changes of pressure and maybe small enough that they may not be super obvious. I have yet to deal with...

    Official LS Picture Thread

I pay about the same for gas here in MN, but were still looking at -14 for a high on Monday. The best of both worlds

    Bad engine noise

I have about 10 miles to drive to my shop today after work. Assuming its tensioner, do I need to tow it, or will I be ok to make that drive? I would look at it, but its far too cold here for me to even consider tearing into the engine today

    Bad engine noise

Thanks, after reading a bit thats kind of where I am leaning too. It is probably better described as a "slapping" sound instead of a "rubbing" the more that I think about it and the sound gets more frequent the higher that the RPMs go.

    Bad engine noise

This may not be quite enough to get me an answer, but I started my 04 v8 this morning at the gas station and it started to make a really loud, almost like a rubbing sound. I popped the hood at the train station before I went to work and it sounds like its coming from the front left of the...

Loud Knock with Cold Morning Start - What to do?

According to ford parts giant: Tensioner: 4Z-6B209-AA Idler Pulley w/flange: 4Z-8678-DA Idler pulley w/o flange: 4Z-8678-CA Disclaimer: This is for a 2004 v8. I can not speak for if this is the same across all years. This is for the motorcraft parts, however these all can be found...

Loud Knock with Cold Morning Start - What to do?

You can probably get whatever brand that you can find (good luck) I replaced both when I did my HB. I believe that Gates was used for both, tensioner for sure. I would probably recommend getting the flanged vs smooth. I could be wrong on this, but I believe that motorcraft updated the part to...

    FOR SALE: Brown Floor Mats

Last time I checked, weathertech doesn't make mats for the LS. I looked into them about a year ago. I really wish they did because they look fantastic

    window problems

I have had this happen to me as well. Let the car warm up and run the defroster for 10-15 minutes. This should help at least. No guarentees as your regulator/clips may be going as well

    serpentine belt slipped off

Oreilly has it as BT81 for the Motorcraft part. Do you think an aftermarket part would be ok for this since it isnt electronic/electric, just mechanical? I found an oreilly here that has a Gates tensioner available at an oreilly about 35 miles away

    serpentine belt slipped off

I paid about 40 for the balancer and I am really excited to get this fixed because I am getting sick of praying that the belt will stay on every time I start it. I may put the tensioner off too because it is a major PITA to find here and the Balancer is shaking pretty aggresively when its cold...

    serpentine belt slipped off

I didnt even bother with a final quote, but I believe he said that I was looking at 300-350 in labor alone, along with the fact that I would have to go through their parts person so you could probably add around $950-1K for the balancer. If my math is correct, I would have been looking at...

    serpentine belt slipped off

Oh cool. The Tires Plus/NTB type place that I brought it to after it threw the belt for a 3rd time in -10 degree "heat" said it would take at least 3.5 hours but I'm pretty sure they just wanted to hose me for more money, but they wouldn't even touch a used part at all so I told them to just...

    serpentine belt slipped off

Hey Ghost, how long did it take your mechanic to do this? I got the part used and I have a guy who said he would put it in for nothing if I got the parts, but I want to give him something fair for his time and effort.

What did you do to your LS today?

Are these chunks out of what appears to be the rubber what makes it go bad?
