    Good road trip prep

I always try to have a container of fresh water, a nice towel, working jack, and good spare. I used to carry a lot more (spare belts and hoses, small tool box), but last 10 years or so I stay on interstates and have a cell phone, so I don't feel the need. I figure if it's more than a flat, I...

    2000 TC Joins Our Family

Been driving the car more and last week I thought a Goose must have made a nest under the hood. I didn't find any feathered friends under there, so replaced the IABP and now the honking noise is gone and the miss has smoothed out.

    2000 TC Joins Our Family

I drove it a bit more today and I really can't tell much of a difference in the ride. Since the conversion is already done, not a whole lot to worry about. I'm not interested in switching back (at least for now), so I'll enjoy it the way it is. Got the DS windows fixed today, so I can hit the...

    2000 TC Joins Our Family

I had time to check the car out in greater detail this past weekend. While investigating the axle code, I discovered why the Air Suspension light is on. My friend had coil conversion done. He didn't really know the specifics - just that the light had been on and the garage he took it to fixed...

    Axle Code

Took some digging, but finally found this site: http://www.idmsvcs.com/liquid/data.html For 98+ Town Cars, JY is indeed a 3.08 conventional, as is MY. The 9E is a 3.27 TL, and 55 is a 3.55 conventional.

    Axle Code

I've been searching for info on axle code trying to figure out what's in the 2000 TC. I find lots of info for various Ford cars and trucks, but not what I need. The door plate lists the axle code as "JY" but I cannot find a direct reference for this combo. There is a reference to a 3.08C JY...

    2000 TC Joins Our Family

Co-worker is getting ready to retire and bought a new Santa Fe. Dealer offered him $600 for the TC but he knows I love my Conti and that I would appreciate it, so he decided to give it to me. It needs some love, but overall a nice ride. F/R driver side windows don't move, dings, dents, and...

Lincoln ls v6 or lincoln ls v8

lol, actually, a colleague is retiring next year and has said I will be inheriting his 00 TC. We shall see. That said, I'm looking for something now. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and I'm thinking it all over. I'm easy on cars and have a back up, so I might go for it knowing I could be...

Lincoln ls v6 or lincoln ls v8

A little more about my thoughts - the mechanic at the garage that does all of the work on our cars does not like the LS. He'll do it, but doesn't like to. This is why I'm looking for the best way to keep out of the shop. I am looking at gen 2s only. So is there any major difference in the...

Lincoln ls v6 or lincoln ls v8

Hey gang, sorry to bring back an old thread, but I'm reading as much as I can trying to make an informed decision. I'm looking at buying a LS in the next few weeks. Lots of decent cars out there, some V8s and some V6s. This will be a DD for me with low miles put on it - I do ~75 miles per...

    Repairing Power Seat

MooJohn - Haven't open up the box yet, but it sounds like the gears. I might have to start looking for a donor car.

    Repairing Power Seat

I'm looking for resources to have the driver front power seat fixed. Long story short, it quit moving back-and-forth and I needed it fixed ASAP. The local indy shop said the box couldn't be repaired, no used ones around, so I ended up paying $800 for a new unit - not a new seat, just the rails...

    Sharing A Few Pics

Nice looking car - I really like the color. When we bought ours, the (Lincoln) dealer said that most owners take really good care of their cars. It sure seems to have worked out for us. Did you buy from the original owner?

    Sharing A Few Pics

Thank for the kind words. I didn't know it was a CE until I took delivery. Bought it based on pics on the dealer's web page. Dealer delivered it to our front door and I was pleased to learn it was a CE. Even better was finding the silver ingots in the glove box!
