Thaywood- you have helped me with some info. in the past. I converted my suspension a few month ago. It was probably just the relay but after 3 weeks of headaches, I threw in the towel. The compressor runs fine, the only thing you might notice is on one of the power wires it...
Don't feel bad i have done it in the past. I also now check that the gasket is not stuck to the block when changing the oil. Nothing makes a bigger mess than oil shooting out through doubled up gaskets when pulling out of the driveway.
Hey saggy I just converted to springs and have OEM mtotcraft fronts bought in sealed box with about 6k on them for sale, also rears a couple years old real cheap.( rears rel cheap.) Let me know if interested or anyone else. Have pics etc.
Finally completed my first extended nightmare suspension fix. Bailed and went to springs after replacing fronts/back air bags/ compressor twice ( one used /one new) relay shot and new compressor had a leak in dryer.Arnott much better ride and correct height compared to Strutmaster done on y 96...
looks great nice to see my car the way it SHOULD look.Almost swapped those wheels off my 96 on to my 97 ( have the octo.they grew on me)but got lazy and junked the 96. I would love to have a pristine exterior but just too many miles a year to keep it nice.

another question if the relay was stuck open would it explain why I could not even stop the pump with the cut off in trunk? and if relay is shot would it prevent the compressor from going back on again. The original problem was the compressor would not go back on after I disconnected the battery...
