Leather seats on 2010-2012 MKZ question

I'm going to be trading in my 2004LS in the spring. Thinking about picking up either a new 2013 Ford Fussion with the 2.0L ecoboost (depends if I like it after I test drive it), or I'm also interested in a pre-owned MKZ. I'm interested in the 2010 or newer MKZ models, love the split front grill...

    Cat replacement, feedback welcome

All set for another year, I was able to get an inspection sticker without changing the converters. After the CEL was reset I was able to put ~60 miles on the car without the CEL coming on, enough mileage for the PCM to indicate that it was ready for inspection. Brought it in for inspection and...

    Cat replacement, feedback welcome

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I've been told by many that after market cats are a waste of money. Is anyone here running aftermarket cats? If so has it been at least 4 years 80k miles with the aftermarket cats and no CEL?

    Cat replacement, feedback welcome

2004 LS V6, 126500 miles, 85% highway miles Bad coils over the past few years has resulted in 2 bad cats. Inspection is due soon, August. My mechanic will only use factory cats, he also wants to replace all O2 sensors. He gave a figure of around $3000, maybe slightly less. If I do this job...

    Emergency Brake Switch

04V6 When I pressed down on the emergency brake switch the entire switch fell into the console. Didn't take much pressure for it to fall through, didn't seem that I broke off any of the clips. Does anyone know the correct way to remove the portion of the console where the emergency brake...

    Clearing the check engine light

2004 V6 LS 122,000 Check engine light has been on for months, code indicates one of the cat converter is bad. My mechanic gave me a price of $1050. The car runs great and would like to try to get a sticker with the bad cat. A couple of questions: - I gather that disconnecting the negative...

LS learns and stores driving habits

I believe disconnecting the battery will wipe out all of the driving habits and transmission shift points that the vehicle has learned, is this true? Does resetting the check-engine-light with a diag scan tool also erase the driving information? Thanks

Reading codes when the engine light is off?

Will code tell me the cylinder number? I want to see if it's a coil pack that I had replaced last year, I know which number it is. After reading the code will it wipe it out? Or will the garage still be able to read it after I have autozone read it. Thanks

Reading codes when the engine light is off?

My LS has been sputtering/hesitating on acceleration around 50mph, especially going up hills. Today the check engine light came on, blinked a few times, then went off. Has a code been set? Can I have it read even if the light is now off?

Internal air temp too cold or too hot

04LSV6 78000 miles, The automatic climate control doesn't seem to be working properly. The internal air is very cold when the temperature is set anywhere from 60 to 79. When it's set to 80 the heat will kick in and it's very hot. Also it blows very cold air when I click off the AC button...

    Exhaust vibration

I'm hearing (and feel while sitting in the back) a vibration with the right rear exhaust. This only occurs between the speeds of 65 and 70 miles per hour. It's quiet outside of this range. I would clasify the noise as a growl or rumble. The lincoln dealer said it was some kind of resonant...

    Anyone own an MKS yet

I saw an MKS last week at the dealer, got a wheel bearing replaced on my 04V6 LS. Didn't have time to test drive it, but my first impression of it was "too big", doesn't fit my style. Although the front grill is awesome. I'm not counting it out yet, I plan to take one for a ride soon, I'll...

    Transmission Flush?

I'm not sure if it applies to earlier years or V8 vs. V6 for that matter. I would suggest that you contact the dealer and ask them about the recall. Like I said I received it at the end of 2004. Good Luck!

    Transmission Flush?

2004 LS V6 63K miles Have the car in the dealership today for what I think is a wheel bearing. The Service manager told me about a transmission service that they do. If I follow this service they warrenty the transmission up to 150K miles. They suggest to have the service done every 30K, it...

Odor and smoke from engine compartment

I had the large vacuum hose replaced in Oct. I brought the car in the day after I noticed the smoke and Odor. Of course it wasn't doing it when driving to the dealer. They took the plastic engineer cover off, checked all the hoses, checked the gaskets and said everything was fine. No signs...

Odor and smoke from engine compartment
