My LS has been sputtering/hesitating on acceleration around 50mph, especially going up hills. Today the check engine light came on, blinked a few times, then went off. Has a code been set? Can I have it read even if the light is now off?

Will code tell me the cylinder number? I want to see if it's a coil pack that I had replaced last year, I know which number it is.

After reading the code will it wipe it out? Or will the garage still be able to read it after I have autozone read it. Thanks

they can still read it unless they delete it with their scanner, which I don't think they do. My scanner told me which cylinder was missing but that was mine, so I would imagine the shop as a better scanner and they should be able to see which cylinder is missing.

You can even take it to AutoZone and they will scan your car for free.
