The wire taps either the ones supplied or any wire taps in general are not very reliable. I recommend soldering for sure. I had one go out and I thought it was the ballast, turns out the wire tap corroded, took it off and discovered it was barley cut to make contact. Just saying, after soldering...

hmmm i haven't noticed the domes coming on after the plate lights shut off but then again i haven't checked after i lock the car and walk away. i usually unlock the car from about 20 feet away and always forget to check but now that i think about it it makes sense.

i went to ace hardware and saw the gasket maker stuff as well but i found a tube of high heat (500 degree) black RTV sealent in the back near the plumbing supplies. it says its used around fire places and such
