Items for Angel Eyes project: Black RTV High Heat Gasket Maker???

I’m getting all the thing I need for the Angel Eyes project and I running into one issue. As I’m looking for the sealants I’m not finding regular Black RTV Hight Heat Sealant. I see Black RTV Hight Heat Gasket Maker… Will this work? I’m under the assumption that is won’t due to the packaging not stating that it will work on plastics. Has anybody else run into this issue with there local parts stores? Is there another Black High Heat Sealant that works? Or should I just order it to be safe.

I used black aquarium sealant and it holds fine. It also isn't a problem when heating the lights to pull them open again.


GE silicone works as well. Just go to Lowe's or something. I think even Tart-Mart has it.

not really sure but you can find a sealant at a pet store for sure, better yet one that deals with aquarium supplies specifically.

i went to ace hardware and saw the gasket maker stuff as well but i found a tube of high heat (500 degree) black RTV sealent in the back near the plumbing supplies. it says its used around fire places and such

The black RTV sealant will work.

go buy some grey rtv sealant, if you have to replace the angel eyes you can do it. i used the grey sealant and it is fine, as long as you do it right.
