    Alloy Wheels in Winter

Thanks, guys. This weekend I waxed them with a high quality wax, and normally during winter I wash every week, and sometimes twice if the temperature rises to the freezing area after salt's been put down. Also will look into the plastic ...great idea. Thanks. P Ryan

    Alloy Wheels in Winter

When I took my old Town Car metal winter rims and winter tires to put on the Conti I bought this fall, I was told that the old winter rims would not fit, and that the bolt pattern on the Continental takes only alloy rims. Normally I like to have a set of cheap rims with the winter tires, so the...

    Instantaneous Gas Mileage Display?

Hi all, Back on the Conti "team" after a couple of years away. Best car I ever had was a 1995, but after it finally went, I tried a Town Car-nice but not a Continental. So yesterday I just bought a 2001 Conti, drove it home yesterday, and am getting all the paperwork done now. It looks to be...

    1998 TC Overheating

A week ago, I had the 98 Town car coolant and rad system flushed. (Apparently the old old coolant was not winter-ready). Anyway had it done along with a tranny flush and oil change. Car ran so smooth, it was hard to tell it was running. Beauty. But a day or so later, driving in traffic the...

    Vintage Conti

I was out shopping tonight and there was one of those antique car shows in the parking lot. A few nice ones, but one car in particular blew me away, and stole the show. Get this, a 1951 Lincoln Continental. Didn't have the camera, but it was a two-tone green (pale body, dark roof), cloth amber...

    1995 Continental Toronto area

My trusty Continental needs a new home. It needs front suspension bags, and there is an ABS sensor code (passenger rear) that comes on. I figure probably $1200 to get it ready for the road again. Otherwise have taken real good care of the car-oil changes etc. - whatever it needed at the time...

    AC Different by Model?

Problem solved. There were 3 issues-needed coolant, there was a small blockage in the line somewhere and apparently a part was missing (?!) from the condenser. Anyway all done and blows as cold as I need now-same as the Continental...repair bill was $360. P Ryan

    AC Different by Model?

I have a situation - two Lincolns but the AC operates differently. My trusty (till recently) 95 Continental AC blows so cold that even on the hottest day, you need to turn it down. Literally like ice, and it comes on full blast maybe 20 seconds after starting up, and will actually sting your...

how many miled do you have??????repairs????

I have a 95 with about 160. One of the reasons I bought it was that I saw one with over 360,000 miles on it. It was in rough shape inside but that Intech just purred. Ended up buying mine at 120. Unfortunately I am moving on as I bought a 98 Town Car last week. Its a real beauty but already...

    Toronto Air Ride Experts

Thanks Hotrod, I probably wont use em for ride control but certainly shop for other parts I need. Mespock, you are sooo right on the mark. Eddie at American AS is the best! He spent a lot of time with me, and I will be buying from him in the future. What I finally did was to go to a 2nd Ford...

    Toronto Air Ride Experts

Thanks Spock. I went through that checklist and nothing bang on BUT one was close. The Ford dealer check found a "loose" harness they said had no effect on the performance. However in that checklist, they mention a bad wire in the harness which is pretty close. The other thing I am thinking of...

    Toronto Air Ride Experts

Anyone have a good air ride or suspension guy who is familiar with Conti air ride in the Toronto area? My drivers front is leaking, and now I think the compressor is going or gone. It starts up sometimes and other times all you get is the warning light, and no pump noise. The car is a 95, and...

    97 Conti Air Ride issues

I would email Suncore (think Bill is the owner). They are absolutely fantastic if you need a part, or even if you want an opinion on what is wrong with Continental air ride issues. On a weeknd my air ride on drivers front died and the compressor was making wierd noises. They communicated back to...

Oil change, frequency and type oil?

Yes Mojoman, every 3 months. Normally the mileage works out to the 3,000 area, but in those rare cases where I am under the 3, I change it anyway. It's inexpensive, and I usually have them check on other things while at it. Like I said, it's a good approach for me.

Oil change, frequency and type oil?

I have my mechanic do it every 3 months like clockwork, and at the same time look for obvious repair issues, for my 95 Continental. Over a year it's a bit over $100, so works out great.

    1995 Lincoln Continental help....

I have A 95. When I start it up, you hear it, and during driving on occasion, especially when you change from city to highway. I think it's supposed to lower at her speeds, for aero and efficiency. The other times you might hear them is if a person or stg with weight is put into or taken out of...

    Heated Seats Question

Thanks guys. Did the search, and see how much work is involved there. Boy, you guys are good! Groundzero, those pics you took during your own repair are awesome, and the detail/step by step idea is great. Now that I see the various parts under the seats, it looks a bit much for my humble...

    Heated Seats Question

Thanks GroundZero. I beleive they did check the elements with a meter of some type. His words to me were "nothing wrong with the element in either seat, lots of juice there." So thanks-I will look under the seats for the relay, try it from that angle. Thanks.
