    Transmission Issue 2002 V8

No expert here, but that sounds exactly like what my 2000 was doing when a coil started going bad. I, too, thought at first that I had a trans problem since I didn't get a CEL. Scantool showed one coil bad and a second pending. Just my experience, FWIW.

Okay, you win. Stupid statement on my part. I humbly apologize for my ignorance.

    This weekend's project

All done. I just went with as tight as I could get 'em, plus 1/2 turn!! I didn't realize that I wouldn't be able to get a torque wrench on them anyway. So, thanks for the replies and the link.

    This weekend's project

Sorry, I should have said it's a Gen I, 2000 non-sport V8. I would think that the torque on that particular nut would be the same regardless. I'll go with about 60 ft-lbs.

I'll start by saying that even though I've been registered here for quite some time, I mostly lurk and learn. If this is posted in the wrong place, please tell me and I will move it elsewhere. I have a 2000 LS with 16" 5 spoke wheels. My friendly local Furd dealer ruined the crap out of the...

    Third Brake Light Problem

Thanks everyone for your help. In spite of my efforts to understand why the bulb would work when connected to 12v independently, but not when installed, I decided to simply try a new bulb and voila, let there be brake light. The best part is that I got the new bulb free (saved a whole $1.88)...

    Third Brake Light Problem

Thanks TrickVert. I will give your method a try when I get home. Brake light circuits used to be pretty simple. I guess the design and operation had to change to accommodate the third brake light so that it would be independent of the turn signal operation? Thanks, all. I will post the outcome.

    Third Brake Light Problem

My test method was to take the bulb out of the socket and apply 12 volts to the wire contacts on the bulb base. The bulb lit. I then read the voltage at the contacts in the bulb socket. 12.3v without the brake pedal pressed, same 12.3v with the pedal pressed. I don't understand why that...

    Third Brake Light Problem

The third brake light on my 2000 LS quit working. The bulb is good but the socket shows 12 volts there all the time. The two corner brake lights work fine. I don't understand why there would be 12 volts at the third brake light socket when the brake pedal is not being pressed. What should I...

Wheels bought from fire666 cause crash

Two old adages to keep in mind: 1. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. 2. You get what you pay for.

    What color is your lincoln?

I may have the same color you do. I think I've only seen one other the same color. Kind of an indescribable dark green.
