This is weird... Ok, so at first I thought I had the same issue everyone on here has had in the past especially those w/Gen 2's like I just had w/the evap tray in the rear. I just fixed that issue on my 97. However it's been happening to my 93 for quite some time intermittently but in the last week it's been baaaad!!! WAIT! Before you say anything, just read below...
Due to the poor fuel economy, I'm making (7-11mpg) a couple friends told me that for sure I must have a fuel leak which at this point I couldn't agree more. However during the weekend I noticed that the car is really holding fumes in very high pressure inside the gas tank. Every time I'd open the gas cap I'd count a good 8-10 seconds of hissing before it would stop. However, today I noticed something really interesting. Aside from the fact that I was about to puke from the raw fuel smell, I slowly unscrewed the gas cap, I counted a whopping 21 seconds of hissing before the cap completely came off. AS SOON AS I PLACED THE CAP BACK ON, THE HISSING BEGAN AGAIN... PERMANENTLY!!! I left the gas cap lose. When I got to my destination, I popped open the fuel door & sure enough, it's still hissing PERMANENTLY! THE PRESSURE BUILD UP is insane! Is this normal? It's not even hot in Miami. It's in the low 80's. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!
