Spooled 4.56 rear build

I agree, I have them in my Cobra.

You, however, don't have a Cobra, you have a Mark VIII, and it's an entirely different animal, I assure you.

To hit 12's you'll need a trap speed around 104-105 MPH and 60's in the high 1.7 range. With 4.56's and a 25" tire (275/40-17 DR's) you'd make the traps in 3rd at right around 6,500 RPM and 105 MPH, IF you have the motor. A 26" tire is good for about 110MPH @ 6,500 RPM.

I'd skip the spool and get a True-Trac diff, I have them in all of my cars, and pull mid 1.7's with my Cobra and SC, so they're up to the task.

You've been posting quite a bit about tuning and performance, but I have yet to see recent track numbers, it'll be interesting when you post some.

Good luck with your project.

Don't forget about converter slip ;)
I have a trac lock. My best time to date is 9.4 @ 79, 2.19 60'.
Slicks, tune, 4.30s, and drop in k&n with the Pass seat removed.

I'm only guesstimating on the tune, and I plan a dyno session soon. I'm only adding timing above 3k rpms, and I hope to revise it and hopefully drop my 60.

Then your doing something wrong. My 97 Evergreen LSC made those wxact same numbers when it was 100% stock with a half tank and a system and my fat arse driving.

+1 with my 95 but bills large posterior was not driving.

If you're still using a stock TC, then you're wasting your time chasing track results.

Who gives a flying fock about MPH. Its a drag race, time to distance is what matters. Spinning your tires off the line equates to a higher MPH.

No :q:q:q:q sherlock. I was just proving that my car is in running order. MPH predicts horsepower very well.

Then you need to learn to drive. A 2.2 60 on slicks is pathetic. I did that on the stock gear and pos michelins.

You keep not proving anything. You parrot some things you heard online but thats it. How old are you, 17,18?

My age has nothing to do with it. You are the only guy here telling me I need to give up and sell my car for a 2011 mustang.

I learned hp and mph have a greater correlation than et back when I messed around with carburetors.

MPH shows HP. ET shows hook.

Fock it, you know what you are doing. Why even bother asking for assistance here? You seem to have all the knowledge you will ever need. Have fun, Im out.

Not quite as much in the 1/8 mile as in the 1/4. Go run on a real track.

BTW, There are two different ways to do things.

If you're going to come here and tell us how things work, then you'll need to be prepared to back up your comments with proof, instead of just hearsay.

Or, you can politely ask questions, and get reasonable answers.

For some who's new around here, you are much too defensive and argumentative. :shifty:

With that said, here are my comments and suggestions.

Give up on the spool if you ever plan to drive the car on the street. It's not safe and you'll risk breaking things. A trac-loc isn't bad, but they do wear out.

If you're serious about 1/4 mile times, then make your next change a higher stall TC, I'd recommend something around 3,600 for a basically stock motor.

Stop guessing about your tune and get the correct tuner and datalogging equipment.

And, quit bringing up Cobra this and Cobra that. It gets pretty old, most of us already know what a Cobra is, I certainly do.

even then, a 100 bucks and a afternoon and it will be as good as new for another several thousand miles.

So I haven't posted in a while, figured I'd give my 2 cents on this thread.

I built another car, one for my wife. She didn't want it as extreme as my car, nor did she want her mod lists as well known.

Anyway, her car has 4.56 gears 27" tall tires. When she is driving it shifts at 7K rpms. I shift it at 7000-7500 rpms depending on what I'm racing.

7K rpm + 27" tires + 4.56 gears + 1:1 trans gear (3rd) = 123 mph (Or 111-118mph depending on converter slip)

The 4.56 gears are a lot of fun in these cars if you don't have Forced induction. It does kinda suck driving down the highway at 2800 rpms. Though we did drive the car from Kansas City to Noble, OK and back with no issues.
