my car has no brakes. its leaking from a bypass valve that apparantly you cant get anymore. anyone? anyone ever bypass the check valve?there are two one for each side in the rear.
:confused::confused::(

The one I told you about behind the fuel tank? You can use a cruise control switch, it's basically the same thing

i dont understand the cruise control thing. yesterday you said something elsewhere. please elaborate.im having trouble with uploading the picture but there are 2 of them one on each rear brake line. im eliminating them.thye guy at midas says hes seen them before and bypasses them on other cars, and since nobody makes them, and a standard check valve may or may not work and is a few days away, elimination.

these are pics.you can see left one leaking

you know much about timing curves, a/f mixtures and tune things? ive seen alot of your posts going back and am amazed at some of the stuff youve done, was looking for someone to help with creating a custom performance tune.

That one thing I have not been able to play with since mine is a 93. You need to hook up with DLF and driller to pick there brains on timing specs. They seem to be up on that.

All Mark VIII's have those.:)

That is where you connect your rear brake lines. It is located in the front left wheel well. I should know, I just replaced rear brake lines on my 98 and 94. :D

Are you sure it's not the brake line leaking?

Never saw those learn something new everyday.

all mark viii have what? iv got three conversations at once. yes my brake lines are leaking. pedaln went to floor, no fluid in resevoir. i never heard of check valve on rear lines if thats what your referring to. i didnt see it the mgr at midas took pic and showed me. then sapp started talking about cruise and i got completely lost. its on the 'what did you do today' thread. he says theyre almost the same. aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhh!

the cruise control is deactivated by a pressure switch when you press on the brakes. this pressure switch is known to leak. several ford's have been burnt to the ground by a pressure switch leak.
ford issued a recall on it.
the pressure switch is located in the passenger side front wheel well. pull the inner fender and there it is.
the picture you posted above is NOT a pressure switch.

now thats usefl thanks chris.why did you do the hub swap? for the bigger brakes? they make other rims that fit, im guessin the brake setup

big brakes that i don't have to redrill and i couldn't find cobra wheels that were not polished. i didn't want polished or chrome wheels. so i bought oem wheels and swapped the hubs.

I'm talking about the twin brake proportioning valves in your photo. I wouldn't call them check valves.:)

The rear brake pressure switch for the shock control is only on the 93-94 model years, and is totally different.:)

bill is right, they are a proportioning valve of sorts, a few fords with 4 wheel disc brakes have these (i know contours do, they had a recall on them) its to basically slow the rear brakes down. i dunno about completely removing them, could cause your rear pads to wear a little too quickly

if you think yours doesnt have them, try looking just behind the frame rail on the drivers side, they are under the plastic cover on the rocker panel

why would there be a need for more proportioning valves. the brake guy at midas called them check valves. is the foward proportioning valve that splits front/rear adjustable or preset?

If yours is bad, I'd replace it. You should be able to find a good used one.

I wouldn't let a Midas guy touch my car.:)

your first mistake is listening to anyone at midas. i worked in amidas and in one week i saw them blow a motor in a Z-71 pick up that was only in for an oil change, and they drove a 87 c-10 4x4 that was just lifted and painted off the allignment rack into the pipe bender machine. the item you pictured is a proportioning valve, very common for them to leak and i believe i still have one or two in my garage.
