ebay trac-loc

Any and all 28 spline 8.8 ones will work you will just need to look into the side gears that have a slight bevel machined into them to mate with the IRS axle "C" clips. I just machined my side gears to look like the side gears from the non posi stock diff. If you don't have this bevel its super hard to pop out axles. Some say you can just run axles without the "c" clips?? All solid rear ends don't have the internal bevel on side gears just IRS posi's. And please no flak for calling it a posi.

is there any way totell if its shot?i thought it had to be irs specific.your telling me i can get any 8.8 trac loc and it will work? im no gonna take it out once its in, theres another one with 3.73 for 187, but i want 4.10 but new trac loc irs is 300 + gears 189 so thats 489 without install kit another 100. imjust wondering if i should jump on this or not for $80 if its good i cant loose

the trac lock? if its in the car, punch it. 2 lines = good. 1 line = bad.
out of the car, pull the s spring, disassemble the diff, and inspect the clutches. if they look bad, replace them. if they look good, replace them anyway cuz its already apart the rebuild kit is only like 70 bucks. or 110 for the cobra carbon clutches.

Check that out. I just bought one a couple months ago. They used to be $179, but still not a bad price. I had a coupon code at the time also, for like 10% off. This way you don't have to worry about rebuilding....and about the same price when you figure in the cost of rebuild kit/labor...

Thats a good deal. By the time you buy used unit and then buy new clutch kit it will come out to that price and you don't have to do the work.

excellent help, thanks guys. i believe im going 4.10.how come ford gears are cheap here, and motive more expensive. this site is cheaper than anywhere ive looked. pardon me for seeming stupid but the gears say 99-04 mustang or whatever any 8.8 gears will work, correct? and what about install kit.irs specific? spoon feed me.some gears say year specific?

8.8 gears are 8.8 gears. doesn't matter if they are IRS or solid axle. i have a trac lok and gear set from a solid axle explorer. fits fine. but your half shafts will get stuck in solid axle trac lok unless you remove the c clips.
