120$ total

Car is MUCH quieter. I am surprised. A bit deeper but very quiet.

Now waiting on new MAF to show in the mail today... :D

looks like a Bassani X chamber.

But what do you mean by quieter, did you have a leak before or somethin'?

Not that I knew of, just suspected the 3rd cat of being clogged. The h-pipe was the shop's. They said it was a performance piece that came off a 6.4L engine(I think).

They just shove the pipes in the X or is it welded somewhere that I'm not seeing???

Well that looks like either a Bassani or BBK x-pipe:

Looks like the first one. Yea it's a hack job. They cut the O2 sensor holes off the x-pipe and welded on some new tubes to make it fit but for 120$ out the door I'm not complaining... yet.

$120 dollars to weld in an x-pipe????????????????????? and i assume they kept your 3rd cat too, thats another $60 bucks they just got for scrap thats outrageous man you got screwed hard. i had an entire true dual exhaust custom bent and welded onto my 98 lsc with bullet mufflers and they put the stock tips back on for $200 bucks, all 2 1/2 inch and it was clean as hell.

...Still sounds like a rip-off. Exhaust work is not as expensive as one who hasn't had much done may first think. I had a custom downpipe fabbed for a 3800 series II in a lumina, the stock peice had a bad flex and because aftermarket pipes wouldn't fit the gen1.5 w-body platform they have I went custom. It was 3'', SS, and had a flex and 3 mandrel bends, ran me $125 welded up and out the door, I kept the cat attached to the old one (think it was a cat, may have been a resonator).

Hey man I priced around and this place my mechanic knew and will stand behind the work.

I knew he would keep the cat. Maybe I should have talked him down but ordering an h-pipe or x-pipe and then taking it too him would have only been a 20-30$ difference.

I've had entire exhaust systems put on cars for 200$ so I understand the  but I have the piece of mind knowing that if anything happens I can take it back and it's all good. I don't NEED the 3rd cat. (unless to sell it) After all my experiences with mechanics the piece of mind is worth the money.

Right, but if you ordered one it would've been the right size. General consensus is that you got ripped in more ways then 1.

Maybe, what I was looking at was 30$ shipped from amazon. The guy who put this on charges 60$ a side for a all work. He didn't charge me for the x-pipe. Just the welding. Plus I was really hesitant about going to any 'new' mechanic shop considering what luck i've had.

But, I'm no so blind as to not understand the opposite point of view.
