Autolite Double Plat. VS Autolight XP Iridium? I have always used the autolite Double plat. plugs good for 100,000 miles but the XP Iridium are suppose to be as well. Anyone have any opinion?,

I dont think that is what he asked :)

The answer is yes. More makers are moving towards iridium for off the line plugs.

He asked for an opinion and in my opinion why waste money
On a lower performance plug

Im not trying to sound sarcastic. But does anyone have some dyno numbers? I used 764s also. Then I read up about spark and flame front, etc. So then I realized its not about the strength of the spark so much, but controlling when it happens and preventing detonation. Hence colder (or hotter) plugs.

WGAF unless you're in the need-forged-internals RWHP range, throw whatever in you feel like. I wouldn't hesitate to use APPs if I didn't feel like changing plugs that often on a pretty much stock car like 95% of the board has.

I put in 764's 3 years/6-8k ago. Looking back I should've put in reg plat's. Don't get me wrong, the 764's are fine but I'll have to replace them in 20k miles cause they don't last nearly as long as plat's.

Just don't get anything bosch.

+2 never use bosch in ANY ford, dunno why but they always break/blow out/in etc

+3 on the bosch stuff, I messed up a 97 tbird with thier stupid +4 plugs.
I sent them a nasty letter and they gave me my 60 bucks back.

Well, I like the XP-104's.

Flamur Adili at Rock auto sent me this:
Hello Lee,

That can be kind of a tough question to answer. There are so many variables involved.
But, I did find the following information that may be helpful.

Autolite XP Xtreme Performance spark plugs are one of the brand's most technologically advanced spark plugs. Consumers get the benefits of patented platinum sidewire technology for improved durability and longer life, along with an iridium-enhanced .6mm finewire design for improved ignitability. Independent lab tests show that Autolite XP Xtreme Performance spark plugs provide better overall ignitability and durability than many other premium spark plugs. By increasing the size of the flame kernel (a 21 percent bigger flame compared to standard sparkplugs), these Autolite spark plugs ignite more gas and air mixture inside the cylinders to deliver better overall ignition. The ignition is more focused, which provides faster fuel combustion, optimizing the vehicle's spark plug performance. In addition, the Autolite XP Xtreme Performance spark plug offers drivers the same durability as the Autolite Double Platinum sparkplug virtually no gap erosion, longer life, and top fuel efficiency over the life of the plug. Autolite XP Xtreme Performance sparkplugs can be used in nearly 90 percent of passenger cars and light duty trucks on the road today.

Thank You,
Flamur Adili

So they cost less than the Double Plats., with a $2.00 rebate per plug. Where as Advance Auto wanted $5 plus for the XP and $3 plus for the Double plats with a $1.50 rebate, which makes me think Flamur has them underpriced. They shipped yesterday within hours of my ordering. What great service. Not to mention how fast Flamur responded to my email question.
To you who offered other plugs I really wanted to know the difference between the Double plats VS the XP Iridium. I used the Double plats on my other 98 Mark at 100,000 miles and before that lady ran the light and totaled me I had 167,000 and no engine problems and 25 Mpg on the highway. Thanks to all who replied.
