Hey does anyone know if theres anyway u can use lifters to raise the car once you put the conversion springs on. The springs are very thick so it looks as if its goin to be difficult to get regular lifters in there. I hve 22 inch wheels so i wanted to raise the car up because it sits lower with the springs than it did with the airstruts

How about some spring clamps?

You might also look into a lift kit for your car. Don't know if there is an SAS kit to convert the weak IFS to solid axle up front.

Lulz, I used muffler clamps (talked into it by an older "cool" kid) when I was 16 to lower the rear end of a cavalier.smh
I ordered the clamps Ed pictured a long time ago and after seeing them would never put them on a car. Forget exactly why I bought them.

You are still the biggest idiot here.

Who the hell would even wonder if you could put a solid axle under the nose of a Lincoln Mark VIII?

Ill tell ya who, the ass hat that tows 3 tons with it and overinflates his tires and dreams of putting an oil burner under its hood.

Fuggin reason I hate people.

Look taking pride in your ride is one thing but making look like a jackass and naming it after a jackass, really?

A solid front axle would be neat on this car. It would allow jacking up the car and being able to run huge wheels and tires. It would also strengthen the weak front ends these cars are notorious for. The stock suspension is too weak on these cars to allow them to do jumping jacks.

Do you have a better solution for lifting these cars and strengthening the front end?

I have a solution for you. Die in a fire.

What part of "IT'S NOT A DAMN TRUCK" don't you understand?

It's more capable than a truck in some ways. It shares the same transmission as a F-150 but the Mark has a more powerful engine. The awesome drivetrain was well capable in my case to tow 6000 lbs cross country.

Ed, you really need to get with Ford, and run the idea past them of producing a Mark IX F-350. It's a stup...endous idea, and I'm sure they'll be all ears.

Most threads on here, I read for the knowledge and information... but for sheer entertainment, you just can't beat an "Ed thread" :D

people like ed make me feel more and more like a rocket scientist every time he posts. a straight axle in a mark VIII?????????? are you seriously that infected with a triple batch of down syndrome. you have got to be joking you even said it, you are such a :q:q:q:qing moron. here is a perfect website for you to join and leave all of us alone before you make us all slit our wrists with your stupidity.

So far, the only solutions given to lift your car are the following:
1. Spring Clamps (Very cheap to do and reversible)
2. Straight Axle (More costly but would give your car much more lift and would strengthen the weak from end on these vehicles). It would also allow you to install hydraulics if you wish.

The other solution was to sell your car but I don't think that's the advice you were looking for and selling it won't lift your car. I would simply go ahead and modify your car as you wish. These cars are cheap on the used market so if you ruin it, you can always find another one. So far, many people said I would ruin my car with the modifications I have made, but it's still holding up because it was built Ford tough.

Spring clamps like pictured are dangerous as hell, especially when used to lift. They pop out like a bullet and you do not want to be next to one when it goes.

Ed seriously needs to be banned on pure stupidity alone. This low life scum POS is gonna get someone killed on here with his advice and "Look at what I did with my Mark so it must be good" attitude.
He is a detriment to this site and mankind in general.

So far, I'm still alive despite all the modifications I've done to my car. And it's certainly wonderful to still be alive to tell others about the modifications. Regarding safety, my Mark VIII is probably even safer now with all the weight I've added to the car. The extra weight helps to keep the car from going too fast down the road.
