:DJust picked up a 8.8 TL unit out of a 1996 tbird. ($35.00) Next week going to rebuild mine. Wondering what gear ratio should I go with. 3:73 or 4:10
Daily driver. Sometime street racer, Next year after engine rebuild will see some drag time at the track.:D

how much highway driving do you do? I personally like 4:10's, but some feel they are to much for longer highway driving.

Daily driver - 3.73s
Sometime street racer - 4.10s
Some drag time at the track - 4.30s
Full time drag car (N/A) - 4.56s

I have a set of 4.10's in my 95 right now. I hate them.

I average 85-90 mph on the interstate out here in Colorado. WAY too much gear.

I can tell you that I have 3:55's and it is not enough. Of course I just swapped a cobra center in so I will go bigger later

wow. for that speed heck yes.
on missouri highways i rarely run faster than 75 for any period of time.

I had 4.10 but dint like them at hi-way speeds, plus the MPG's sucked. I got 3.73 now but I couldnt tell you how they feel yet.....car hasnt moved in 2 months.

I have your 4.10s in my car and love them.
I avg 19-20 mpg and my right foot is heavy.
I wish I went 4.30s with the auto.

I could cruise around all day with my 4.30's though I wasn't going to win any high speed runs of course, lol...

+1

Should try and cut it down to 70mph 94m5. :)

No I should'nt.

We have 75 mph "limits" out here. At 85 mph, the state troopers don't even look twice at you. I set the cruise at 92~93mph, and have had no issues thus far.

Oh, and don't "advise" me on my driving habits. :)

At those speeds I think 3.73 gears would be better. Its a nice medium between 3.55 and 4.10.

I took like to keep it in 70-80mph range and couldn't imagine motor screaming at 3000 rpm.

If I had known how mild 4.10's really are I would have gone with 4.30's.

The motor is far from screaming at 3k rpm ;)

I was running around with the od off and didn't even notice it. :p

No doubt, na auto...4.30s :)

I can't drive like Mike does.

One ticket over 100 mph here is Six month license revocation.

I run at 95mph....the cop says 100 mph. :shifty:
Not worth it.

Give me 4.30s and 80 mph I can get home fast enough.......

I feel your pain Mike. Driving 75 out there IS slow. ;)

Now, where I live, 4.10s are nice and 4.30s are even better. :D

Driving 90ish here is a guaranteed ticket. At 75 to 80 you will be passing almost everyone.

Well, drive the way you want, your life is in your hands. Rather do 70 then 93, makes a big difference in braking. =]

Which is why my VIII doesnt have stock brakes anymore.

13" Front/12"rear combo now, and 14"/13" brembos going on this winter.

Ha, I thought of that after I posted it. =] Good deal though. Using a radar detector to, or find them to be junk?

up here anything over 80 is a $1500 ticket. 7 points on your license. and a 20 hour remedial driving coarse that you pay for....

not worth it.... i got clocked in a 75 in a 55 ( FFCPW ) and almost got reckless driving.

fast is fun, but a ticket sucks... cop was nice about it though, was on the 4th of July weekend.
