Gen 2 headlights on Gen 1 LS

You can always trace the wires in the gen 2 light then match up the harness wires. Took me 20 minutes to do it that way.

I installed the 03-06 headlights on my 00 back in 2006. I bought a new front crash bar specific to the 03-06 and then bought the HID 03-06 headlights. I already had an aftermarket hid kit installed, so I had to do nothing different with my wiring. The only thing is the small LED running lights do not illuminate.

I still have to hook up my LEDs. I'm just going to connect them to the wiring for the old gen 1 side markers.

I know that when everyone swapped head lights you mostly all swapped the facsia to avoid the dreaded gap, are the hls themselves (specifically the lens) a different size or shape? Could a gen 1 lens be sealed onto a gen 2 hl if they were both dremeled apart in the same way? I ask because you can buy a set of brand new gen 1's cheaper than a single used gen 2 and my lenses are scratched so bad they'll never be perfect even with refinishing.

clean!! so i can get gen 2 headlights on my 01 ls?

I don't believe their interchangeable.

A good body shop can glass the bumper to fill the gap, other than that I don't think your idea will work. I rolled around for 3 years with the gap.

I'm not worried about the gap. I have gen 2 hid's and my lens' are deeply scratched. My question was whether I could by new gen1 assembly's(cheaper than a single USED gen 2 hid) and swap out the fronts to get brand new looking lights.

I looked at quite a few pictures today and I can't tell a difference in the lens portion between the 2. I'm hoping someone who has done the swap, or currently has one of each will chime in with a definitive answer.
