Traction OFF- bad ABS speed sensor?

Yesterday afternoon, I got both new O2 sensors in.
Then I replaced the passenger lower control arm and tie rod.

I saw some cracks on the wire leading to the ABS speed sensor on the spindle. I don't think all the struggling helped it any. I got the car back together and now the traction control is staying "OFF"

If that ABS sensor finally kicked the bucket, would that be the obvious symptom? That's pretty easy to replace (about $60 part), isn't it??

ABS Sensor from PartsAmerica.com was $60.99 +tax for the one I got. Free shipping on orders $50+. Part number is ABS530039.

The TC Off is one symptom, but if the sensor is actually the problem then it will also be accompanied by a constant ABS light on the message center.

Yeah, I have the ANTI-LOCK light on now too.

How long did it take you to replace? Can I access everything by simply removing the tire?

Haven't gotten the part yet. Other parts on the order have delayed shipping. But it does look like everything should be accessible by removing that tire.

There's a bolt holding the sensor to the spindle, which you'll need to remove. This bolt also secures the wire holder to the assembly.

You may be able to pull it out from the inside.

If it's stuck in there, you can remove your brake rotor and knock it out with a hammer and a socket extension. (Note that doing this will demolish the sensor).

the rears are really easy, one 8mm bolt, bracket and push pin. however you do need to get under the rear of the car to unlock the connector.

i just replaced my rear abs sensors with oem pair, i still get the check advancetrack on key-on. I could have sworn it would have been one of the rears as it was corroded green at the mounting bracket.

my fronts look just fine, hoping it's not the pricey abs module itself :(

something I found odd. the sensors are labeled R and L for right and left, however it seems backwards to me, IE the sensor with the R fits on the passenger side and the L one fits on the driver side. is right and left reversed when working on the rear of a car part labeling wise??

I didn't see any abs codes on my scanner before i swapped the sensors, would this mean it could be the ab$ module itself that's faulty?

You are 17 different kinds of special. You do know cars in America are refereed to as "Left Hand Drive" right? Left and right in a car is always as how the driver sits.

Now, why did you resurrect a 4 year old thread?

my man, you are 17 different kinds of douchebag,I got a lot of help getting google hits on 5 year old threads, message boards are great for stuff like that, ya know? I feel good adding to the value of a thread for someone else down the line. I guess it sucks for guys like you who just troll. I build global server networks for a living, being a driveway mechanic is new to me, so to answer your question, no I wasn't sure which side was left or right parts wise. so thanks.

You resurrect a dead thread with useless info. Say your car has warnings that simply do not exist. Cant tell your right from left and then state your profession like it has anything to do with anything. Then contradict yourself by saying you are not a mechanic yet you have an ABS scanner, which most MECHANICS dont even have.
That good sir is trolling.

did I mention I think your car is ugly too lol, nice rims homey.

wait, when did I say I have an abs scanner? I have an autozone scantron which as it turns out doesn't read abs related codes, you chode. and I stated my profession as to elaborate on why I didn't know the orientation of the car for parts, chodey.

no posted information is useless, it might help someone else someday. but like i said, for a loser such as yourself who just refreshes the page all day cause you have nothing better to do with your life, it might suck seeing old posts, but someone with some class would skip right past it. people such as yourself jump at the opp to put someone down. But it's cool, you don't understand why you act like a douchebag, good luck figuring it out one day.

 Ohhhh, sick burn. Stop having your mommy write your chit. Guess I couldnt expect any more from a NY douche. Oh well.

lol your right, maybe in Dawson creek it's different but it's the NY guys like me that slap the chit out of big mouths like you.

I'm done, have a nice day.

I take it back, you are not special. You are the standard run of the mill dumb ass with extra options like being completely clueless and just a worthless POS.

You take the total dumb ass stand when confronted about your stupidity, straight to calling names followed by refuting things you already said.

Good luck with that sparky.

Come try it internet tough guy. You think you got what it takes then come on over. Slap the chit out of me? Your focking ovaries are showing. Tell ya what, ill let your bitch ass slap me until it hurts to lift your poor little arms and then I will simply drop you with a single right hook. Don't worry, ill wake you up before the coyotes come to eat you.

Hey at least he searched. I use Google to search LVC allot.

Plus I have the same problem and now I know why. So it did help me at least.

Is it posable to remove a used front ABS senssor with out distroying it? I have several used ones from my parts cars. No need to spend the cash if I can just use my parts.

Mark, it will take you longer to take the wheel off. the front's are very easy, snap right off/on

Snap right on/off? Will you STFU you stupid worthless POS.

Markviiiedrea, they are easy to remove but if you try and "snap" them off then they will be broken.
There is a single 10mm bolt that holds the sensor to the spindle. After removing that bolt you have to wiggle the sensor out. Then above the k-member there is a bracket that hold the cable. The rubber grommit just slids off that bracket. After that there are two plastic clips attacking the wire to run along the k-member. Then behind the bumper you will find the sensors plug. Not a very hard job.

funny how they are described as "snap on" type on ford's part website.

8600 post's in 2 years, maybe you should go out and spend some more time in your ugly car. honestly, didn't your mother teach you to keep your pie hole shut if you've got nothing good to say to someone? let it go.

Didnt your daddy teach you to stfu when you have no idea WTF you are talking about? Or could you not hear him as he was skull focking you? Ford also called the 302 a "5.0" and they call our shocks "struts" but that does not mean they are correct.

BTW, someone who drives a Galant obviously has no taste. You thinking my car is ugly means absolutly nothing to me. Opinions and ass holes. Everybody has one and you're an ass hole.

way to fill a good thread with useless garbage laser, glad I was able to help someone out.

who drives a galant you fuktard? and yes I do think your car is quite ugly indeed. I always thought that car was a boat to begin with, some could look classy, but yours reminds me of ghetto harlem car, and it was the easiest most obvious insult choice. But that's probably the look you we're going for anyway. You win, good luck with yourself.

YOU didn't help anybody out. He knows how to search and would have found this thread with or without your worthless ass so dint go deluding yourself that you in any way help around here.

BTW, POS LS cars look identical to a Gallant. Fact of the matter is everyone in this forum thinks your car is uglier then sin. Terrible ergonomics, boxy body that looks like a Gallant, sub par performance and room? It amazes me how much MORE rear room a Mark has over a LS yet does it with two less doors and much more gracefull lines.
