Ok, please be patient...

Since I bought my car (last Sunday) the REAR bags have been fully inflated.

The fronts seem to be normal ride height.

There is no code or check light on for the suspension whatsoever.

I even tried tricking the system by jacking the rear up while leaving the switch in the truck ON. It did nothing.

I do hear the compressor come on when I start the car.

I have read all the FAQ's on American Air Suspension-

Only thing I gathered was that there could be a bind the suspension somewhere that is preventing the bags from venting?

Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

maybe the sensor for the air ride is set wrong? allowing the rear to be HIGH.

Check your rear sensor on the drivers side. Turn air ride off. Leave bottom bolt alone, go for the one or two upper bolts that hold the bracket in place. 12mm, loosen a little, use something to tap the bracket up about 1/2" or in your case, maybe a whole inch. Tighten at least one bolt back down. Turn air ride back on, start car and see what happens. Pull up a few feet and back up but park it level. Shut car off, get out and shut the door. If no vent in the rear or movement at all, I would say your rear sensor is bad.

The binding has to do w/ the front struts so thats not it. and x2 on the rear ht sensor.

And let me give you a helpful hint on search, because you seem to be asking alot of questions that are NOOB questions and all have been answered soo sooo many times before. No sarcasms intended.

Use Google search for your question nd include make and model. You will come up with a ton load of answers that will link you right back to LVC.com to the thread you are needing to answer your question. I know the search function on this site can and does come up with everything under the sun with word match and you can be searching for days. But use Google search and it will be much easier.

I just got off the phone with Eddie a few minutes ago and he suggested checking/adjusting the rear sensor as well. Ill give that a go.

Thanks, will do.

Yep...rear sensor or the thing just won't vent.

Mine was in 4x4 mode and I replaced the compressor.
Your front looks high to me. "not venting"

If the system were not venting, wouldnt there be a check air suspension message on? I do not have a message/light on...

I plan on taking a look at it tomorrow afternoon. It sucks bc I live in an apt in the middle of the city so I have to drive 20 min to have access to a place to work on it :(

You just need to adjust your sensors but mainly that rear one needs to be tapped up. Just loosen a little bit using a 12mm 1/4" socket/ratchet or wrench and tap it upward about an inch and tighten bolt(s). Let the car down and turn the air ride back on. Start it up, move it back and forth a little bit and park, then shut off and get out and shut the door. It should come down if the sensor is good in the rear, unless the compressor itself isn't venting.

nah its fine. you've just got the offroad package!

front does look high. it seems to not be venting at all.

It's on the Sportsman Pro ride height setting

ROFL, I remember when I was 16 and we ALL jacked the tail end of our cars up to put big ole meats on em.
That was back when you could still get a cherry '65 Mustang for a grand, and I don't even remember what gas cost because we didn't pay any attention to it.

Tell me about it, I had a 71' RT Challenger with a 440 and 4:56 gears all jacked up in back to fit the Mickey Tompson I tread tires. I drove the thing 25 miles each way to work and now I'm worried about how much gas I'm putting in my Mark

Thanks guys!

I would like to add another question to this thread...

The bottom of the rear bags have cracking around the edges and eddie told me that the person I bought the car from may have raised the rear bc it can prevent air from leaking through the cracks.

I know some one who has some used bags and I may wind up buying them if my bags start to leak once I lower it.

What advice do you guys have about buying used bags?

Thanks

Most all older rear bags have cracks on the bottom. Mine have them and it does not leak at all in the rear. I just swapped out a rear pair and they also had cracks of the bottom and they didn't leak. The reason I swapped them was because one was Arnott an the other was OEM. I put in two different bags that were OEM and raised it about 1/2 an inch.

I'm not saying that yours won't leak but letting you know that the cracks don't always mean they will leak. If for some reason they do, you can always raise it back up until you get another set. This is if your vent solenoid isn't sticking and not allowing the car to vent at all.

thanks nolimit.

Update!

I adjusted the rear sensor ALL THE WAY up by loosening the two bolts and sliding the bracket upward.

The rear fender is still sitting about two inches above the tire. MUCH lower than it was before.

Im just concerned bc Ive read where some people do not have the rear sensor adjusted all the way bc it gets too low.

How come mine is not getting that low? Could I adjust the little piece that connects the sensors at the bottom?

Its definitely venting and no sign of leaks as of yet.

Not sure how close the top of your bracket is to the top but mine is maybe a little less than an inch before it's to the top and hitting the body.

Sounds like you got it down at a good height. I'd leave it as is for now and measure from the ground to the bottom of the fender well, after it has vented. Write that measurement down and then check again after an over night set. This will let you know if the bags are leaking any. Can you get a pic of how it's setting now? Sounds like you have it set at the same height mine is setting.

nolimit, it is actually sittling a little higher than yours. To me, it looks like its sitting about stock height.

The two inch gap I stated earlier was just a rough eyeballing measurement which im not too good at. After getting down and really looking its probably 2 1/2 to 3 inch gap.

Like I said, much better than before. My car is in the parking garage at my apts so Ill go out and take a look at it here in a minute on my way to church. Ill let you know if I find it on the ground or not lol

That pic you seeing the sig isn't how mine is sitting anymore. The front is but the rear is up higher than what you're seeing here. It was riding too low so I swapped out bags with a pair that's been together before and took out a mixed pair, one Arnott and one OEM. Mine has been sitting in one spot in the garage since Friday morning and hasn't dropped one bit. I'll probably lower all 4 corners about an inch later on today.

I have one bag in the front on the pass side and it has a very slow leak so that's what's been holding me back. My front bags are out of a 98 and I'm not sure what Jamie sent me for the rear but they're fine.

I'm sure yours should be setting just as you left it last night, unless the cracks are larger than I had imagined.

yeah car is sitting just as it was last night. Ill get some pics up in a bit to show how its sitting. Still curious as to why its adjusted all the way up but it only looks like its at factory height.

edit: Ill take a closer look at the bracket and see if i can move it up any higher.

It's possible that the top of the bracket is bent upward on the end. I'd just have to see it.

Heres a pic of the new ride height. I am squating down pretty low to get even with the car.
