The car is a replica to yours just unfortunately it has the landau cover!

Guys, the car will sit as is for the next few weeks while I make the determination of what it's outcome will be! If I part it out which will be the outcome more than likely, Sapper, the seats are yours(not including seat tracks, those are mine)!

I will keep everyone posted!

Just trade me cars, title for title...I kinda like the roof

Don't part it. Fix it.

Damn you people with your supportive comments!:p

I'm going to be looking at the car in the next few days to see what can be done. That engine hasn't been started in over 8 years or so & the car hasn't moved in 10 years! The breaks are GONE!, the wasp hives were all over the engine compartment, the trunk has a HUGE rust spot & the landau cover is coming apart at the rear where it meets the rear window on the driver's side! The car is truly a shame to part but I'd have to invest plenty in order to sell it as a running car!

Is it hard to take off that landau cover? I noticed it's fiberglass underneath! I remember as a teenager I helped one of my friend's remove his landau cover off his 87 Mercury Cougar! It had both this black tar + rivets!

Also, the sunroof runs flush to the top of the roof, if I take it off, there would be a gap!

Leave the roof as it is. Wasp hives don't kill motors. Brakes are cheap. Get it running, replace the brakes, and clean it up. With those miles, someone would buy it. Most people buy cars by mileage. I dont think you would have a problem selling it.

Iirc there are Rivets under the top, holes will need to be welded up. Then painted. Normally I don't like those tops, but the blue on blue doesn't look horrible. I would want the air for my 98, and would use the 98s springs on it, and give it to the "ol lady" to putt around

If you put 3-500 in it i wouldn't be surprised if you could get 2k ish for it.

Not bad at all... I've seen some real ugly tops but that actually works with the car.

As far as getting it started, I managed to get a crusty old 240Z engine going that had been sitting almost as long... As long as it's not horribly seized I would put money on it firing up without too much effort.

The engine does crank (according to the previous owner) but his brother tried installing an aftermarket alarm on the car & after that the car never wanted to turn on again!

What about fuel? 10 years worth of dust in the gas tank I'm sure are no good. What opinions can I get in that dept? Just fuel & a 104 octane booster to give it plenty of spark? As soon as I get home tonight I will be cranking it to see what it does!

Depending on how much is in there i'd siphon out the old and put in new gas with some seafoam or a good fi cleaner.

Sounds like you got a good deal. I had a 97 black with a black roof that I liked. It might grow on you...lol

I think it would be fine just getting the old gas out and putting fresh stuff in. These cars don't have drain plugs on the fuel tank, do they? That would certainly make that whole process a lot easier... gets the crap out from the bottom of the tank too.

i have taken down at least 5 gas tanks on these marks, none had any residue ( nor dust for that matter Alex) although gas does get old and dark. siphon old gas and put fresh gas, then crank the crap out of that old SOB!!! ;-)

Haha, fair enough. I'm used to working on cars a lot older than these, lol.

I have great news!!! I'm NOT parting out the car!!! The engien cranks over just fine. It needs TLC, thats it! In the next couple weeks I plan on removing all the plugs, dropping some nice oil or a bit of tranny fluid down the holes & crank the car so that in the event that there is some minor rust in there it ends up lubing itself nicely! The radio sounds amazing, the radio & A/C panel buttons LOOK & FEEL BRAND NEW! I'm shocked with this car!

Downfall? Car needs new brakes, seat tracks don't work, center console is not closing, the roof liner needs to be painted dark blue again so it can look nice & the trunk has a 5 inch rust spot! (Trunk should be replaced or bondo'd correctly!

Either trade me or part it...I need the leather...lol

Ok Sapper you have my attention! I remember in some prior threads you & Laser brought down that engine & had some issues with your car & you really wanted to get rid of it! What's the status on your car, engine, tranny, miles, etc... Give me some 411 & interior/exterior pictures! I'm sure all of us on here would like to see more pics of your car! :)

Note: I will be posting some beautiful pictures of the interior soon!

Ok gents, here are the interior pictures & one engine pic with the beautiful wasp hive posing for the picture!
