Front Cobra Brembo rotor and Mach 1 caliper install

I picked these OEM solid Brembos because they are a super deal. I didn't want holes or slots to keep noise and dust down. Also i'm not a flash guy I like some what sleeper mode. No notice from Johnny Law if you now what I mean. Thats why I picked the alum Mach 1(cobra) calipers to kinda hide.

Ok I'm going to have to make a disclaimer here because this is my car and I work on it how I please. This write up does not imply that this is the only way to do this or the best way.Just way I did it. That said,on we go.

Here's one on Bridgeport being indicated in.

All done and ready to go on car.

This mod is done to the Pass side caliper only for brake line clearance. I didn't want to clearance the hose end.

I didn't get new copper washers with the calipers and parts store had real cheap thin ones so I made ones I like.

Here is after pic.The new rotors are hub centric and don't need spacer ring.

Just thought some might like to see.

Go look at my 9.5 converter install post same way. But on these you can see the dowels placed in stock holes. I indicated off those dowels one side kinda tight clamped down then tap in while going from dowel to dowel then tighten down when dowels are prefect in line.

1956 Bridgeport J-head 1hp single ph. When I bough it ,it came with the bridgeport "optics" set up on it. LOL. I made a on/off switch lowering kit,air draw bar kit,added a power X,added a 3 scale Sony megnascale DRO(super nice) and a Bejur spray mister on her. She only has a 36x9 travel table(with Tibon chrome ways) but i love her. Got her for free after selling the spare 3ph motor and the optics off her. I also have a 90 degree bridgeport head for her.

Just a FYI I paid $189 for all 4 brembo rotors and paid $182 for the Mach1 calipers for a total of $371 to have all brand new Cobra brakes on. Excluding stock used rear calipers(not new). Oh I forgot the front calipers come loaded so I got free front brake pads too.

I hear ya there. Autozone wants like 40 a rotor for there china junk that woulda been 160. Only paid couple bucks more for Brembos.

I got them many moons ago from a friend that owns a speed shop. Got the "Keystone" jobber price. Got the calipers off Ebay. Like I mentioned I did all these mods years ago.

The mill and lathe are the cheapest parts of setting up a home machine shop... by far...

I've added up everything before... it gets nuts really quick.

These prices are used. If you shop around and always look you run into deals sometimes. My miller some old guy had it in his basement and wife told him to get it out. 300 and she was mine. Came with some tooling and some stock too.

Granted if you can find one locally, and have the means to get it from where it is, to where you want it.. Great, have at it.

We did just that when GM tucked tail and closed up shop in Dayton.

We bought a ton of stuff at auction, including a Cincy Milicron VMC for $5K.

Mills were going about the same as HGR wants. $1300-$1500 with DRO.
