Anyone else keeping there MK8 FOREVER?

undecided... i like my Gen 1 but might try to upgrade to a Gen 2 LSC that has a mint body. Hell I dont even car if i got one with a blown engine if i could get it cheap... I would swap all of the stuff that I like on mine to the new one and call it a day

I plan on keepin mine as well forever. Even when I go to Madagascar,Africa and start the orphanages,I will keep my car back here in the states. I want to give it to my youngest brother who has loved and helped me with it tons! And It wont be SOLEY his. ;) it's big brothers when I come back every now-n-then.
Got it in 2005 with 52k and now I'm at 125k It's been good-ish to me.
;-)

Right now I am trying to negotiate with my funeral director how me and the "Whiner" can be incinerated and thrown in the lake without having an EPA permit. So far he has me cleared.

Being a hardcore Mustang fan that I am, I merely bought my car just for something different back when I had some extra money. I was then surprised by how neat these cars are, I've always been a Ford product fan, and when I actually seriously "got in to" Mark Viii's and lurked around here and did some research before signing up, I had a good idea what kind of attention the car would need, what most problem areas were, then dived into buying the car.

That being said, I was VERY surprised at how well the car ran, mine being a '93.

So I definitely became a fan of the Mark Viii. I had a weird love for my car, and when I smacked bambi in '09, there was no way I was getting rid of my Mark Viii having only enjoyed it for just ONE year.

Keeping my car, and having mecanical knowledge has saved me over 7K in repairs to the car (even though it's not done yet) and once it's repaired, I plan on finally modding it like I intended to.

I love my Mark Viii.... It's like a big, fat, fun, automatic Cobra :D

This is exactly how I started. I also still have my 2 mustangs. I bought my drag car(was DD) 1984 hatch 555 in 1989 bought my 1990 5.0 LX AOD Conv in 1999 and still have them. I recognize alot of faces here just look at join dates, going back to 05,06, 07 and such. Couple noobs thrown in and we'll see where they stand in couple years!! LOL

My Mark is also a 93 and I also still have my first car,a 92 5.0 GT.I plan on keeping them both and never getting rid of them.Although the plan to keep the GT may be a little tuff. But I am sure it will not go anywhere.

Now that I driving, now my problem is what car does my money go into once I finaly get a J.O.B.?

My 4 yr old son wants my mark when he's older...my 3 yr old son wants a stang instead after liking the bumblebee Camaro, I guess he's starting to show is true blood lol...

I plan on driving my 98 into the ground. Even then I wouldn't sell it. I'd probably part it out for the headers, cats and other nice things that I've got on it. After that I'd probably be done with mark VIII's. Right now it's at 123K and going strong as my DD. Hopefully I get to 200K or more before everything starts falling apart.

Generally, I keep my vehicles a l-o--n---g time.

I plan on keeping the DA for as long as I possibly can. It's a "summer" car. It will *never* see winter again. The only way I ever see myself getting rid of it is if its wrecked beyond repair, or if maintenance becomes impossible. It is a 96 after all.

The 97 has become my winter car. I'll drive it as long as the body holds up. I take care of it and keep it clean, but it has lived in the Midwest since 1999. The undercarriage is starting to show its age. I should probably get under there this summer and clean it up, then hit it with POR-15.

My son drives the 93, although I own it. I expect that I will get it back from him after he graduates from college and gets a job. He is not a car guy, and never will be. I do all the maintenance, and he has no desire to learn. Once he has to foot the bill, I expect he'll be one of those guys that gets a new car every couple of years.

I thought i would never get rid of my 93, now my palms itching waiting on the money.

Mine is a 10/92.. Wonder who here has the oldest

It's one thing to say you are going to keep you Mark forever and another to actually own one for a long, long time. I've never really said I'm going to keep my Mark forever, but I've been driving Mark VIII's since 12/96, so around 14-1/2 years. I'm on my 2nd Mark and the only reason the 1993 was replaced with a 98 LSC is because I drove it until it was done.

I'm pretty sure that's the longest on this board besides Geno, he may have gotten his before I got my 1st Mark.

I've had my '96 for 10 years. Bought it in 2001 with 65K miles on it. It now has 202K. I plan to drive/own it "until the wheels fall off" as it were:) My wife also intends to keep her '97 LSC until it's "done". We both love these cars. I've owned my Mark longer than I've ever owned a car in my life. And I've owned 20+ vehicles over the years.

Longest I have ever kept a car is 7 years and I have had this one nearly two. We'll see how it goes.

I'll see about setting up proper storage when my head is frozen after I die. They better still have internal combustion fuels when they unfreeze me!

I plan to keep this Lincoln until the wheels fall of it. It sure has been a reliable and low cost car to operate and so far, the air bags are still holding air nearly a year after I put slime in them.

How do the codes read to tell what month they were built?

Mine could be about the same month.
Well it is a pretty complicated code. On the door tag there is a space for "MFG DATE" and that means manufacturing date. Then there are four numbers and this is where it gets complicated. If the number says "01/12" that means it was made in the first month of the year, January, and on the 12th day of that month.

:D

I've owned my first mark back in 01'. On my third now. Geno probly had his since 98 if I'm correct.

SMARTASS! :D

I was just thinking that the coding might be like some other codes where a letter would stand for a month.
