96 Lincoln Mark8 Looking for intake runner control actuator

I have a 96 Linclon Mark8 LSC with 83K on it. Mechanic tells me I need a Intake runner control actuator for bank1 or passenger side.
I spent the day calling local junk yards and filling out parts requests at online sites. I also read hundreds of posts here. It seems Max at that ford dealer in arizonia may be able to find one. If not I'll never be able to get it inspected cause im in NC and the cel on is a no go. No Inspection- no tags here. I love driving this car and its in decent condition but its discouraging that no one makes this part any more. ANybody have any helpful suggestions?
 
You will be better off buying a 93-95 IMRC setup, and converting back to that. An SCTchip can be burned to turn off the CEL and no one will be the wiser.

Sct CHip?

DId a search for SCT chip and found-SCT SF3 Power Flash Ford Programmer
Says it clears DTC errors. Will the errors just come back later or are they deleted for good? It cost $379 dollars but sounds interesting cause it claims it will increase my power.

ALso is the imrc the part that contains the "butterfly valves"?
Cause what the mechanic says I need is the actuator that controls the butterflys... I think. See hes real busy and dosent seem to like to talk to me about it.

THe other responce- get a tune with a xcal2, I did a search, found an xcal tuner, says it is for a 96- 2004 mustangs does it work on lincolns too?

ANd would either of these responces allow my cel to still funtion other than the IMRC error?
I read somewhere that when doing an inspection, they check to see if the CEL is functioning.
 
Here is a picture of what is causing the problem. The actuators relys on engine vacuum to close the IMRC's. The rubber boot rots out and causes a vacuum leak that causes the IMRC to not close (stays open). You will need to find one in a junk yard. If you remove the IMRC's you will have no torque for getting the car rolling.

Good luck man. Its a pain. They show up on ebay every now and then. I just had to replace mine. I bought them almost two years ago and held on to them

can you pull this rubber boot out of a different imrc. i might still have mine laying around from when i did the swap the boot on the drivers side was still good. maybe that might help him
 
It depends upon what the problem is. IT could be a boot, but it may also be the sensor. The whole system needs to be checked.
 
Sorry but the boot is a one way trip. To see it the housing gets pretty beat up. The whole can has to be replaced as a unit.

Nothing a little peice of rubber and super glue cant fix :)
 
just an FYI.....

I have a set of OBD1 IMRCs out in my garage. 60,000 miles on them and look brand new.

PM me an offer.
