How much to fill your Mark

When I still owned it I mistakenly put 87 in it(first fill up). Needless to say it sucked! I also buy my gas in Missouri, well worth it to buzz across the river and save .10 to .15 cents a gallon. Sometimes more on the right day.

Been about $70+/- to fill the car recently, and thats usually at a bit less than 1/4 tank :(

Well my car pulls a 6000 lbs trailer load just fine with regular fuel. So far I haven't had the need but maybe with premium, it'll be able to pull even a heavier load.
Thats cause gawd looks out for retards and idiots.

is this the same guy that put slime in his bags?

A 6k# trailer load with a Mark? Provided you load the trailer right with 10-15% of the trailer weight on the tongue, you are putting 600-900# of extra weight on a suspension and chassis designed to handle only 900# including the driver, any passengers, and any cargo inside the car. Not to mention Ford recommends towing a 2000# trailer load MAX (pg 124 in the owner's manual). Just go get a truck.

i filled up 2 days ago and payed $3.56 a gallon. and it cost me $54.04 to fill up from a 1/4 of a tank.

edit: 93 octane. we dont have 91 where i am.

Hey if you can't afford premium there's always other options. I'm sure these won't mind regular one bit

If it's not necessary, there's no reason to pay the extra.

If you can't afford nitrogen in your tires, that Accord...ish car is all yours.

These cars are severely underrated and can pull a lot more than what's advertised. I pulled a trailer weighing roughly 6000 lbs cross country with my mark and it worked flawlessly. The only thing I had done to it was install a large transmission cooler. The rear suspension had a lot of weight on it but it leveled right out. And with the independent rear suspension, I get less sway towing than some trucks I've towed with.

And their bumpers are really strong too so I could run over you and not even see any dammage. Just cause I can dont mean I think its a good idea..... even though some others on here think you getting run over by a Mark is poetic justice.

Stupid......stupid.....stupid.
You can have sex sometimes and not get pregnant, I read it on the internet somewhere.

Unfortunately, we've been over this subject with this genius in the past. He won't listen, he'd rather risk his life and that of others by towing a 6,000lb trailer with a vehicle that was never designed with such tow rating in mind.

Why is he doing idiotic stuff like that? Well, I think the answer is obvious. His mommy must have dropped him on his head as a baby when she slipped on that spilled Crisco in the kitchen. No other explanation for being that stupid... And unfortunately, you can't fix his kind of stupid until he kills someone while towing that trailer with that Mark.

You're wasting your time on him.

The MArk VIII is severely underrated for towing? Are you, I don't know, a suspension engineer in the employment of FOMOCO? Maybe a different automotive manufacturer? Are you, perhaps a suspension engineer in the employment of a suspension supplier? Do you have hard in-house data that shows the Mark VIII can indeed safely pull 6000 lbs day in and day out? I only as because I'm curious how you came to the conclusion that the Mark is "severely underrated" for safely towing you kind of weight?

I drive a proper Pick-up truck. It's an F-450. It is rated for 33,000 LBS. I've pulled 42,500 lbs with it with no apparent problems. Why? Because I was in a pinch. Would I do it again? HELL NO!

My point of the story is simple. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Unfortunately, you won't learn until that day when you (hopefully, instead of) or, someone else dies because of your negligence what with towing something with a vehicle clearly not designed to tow that much.

You're getting less swaying with independent suspension? Are you out of your rabid assed mind? You're getting less swaying because of all the damned weight on that suspension. Extra weight it was never designed for! WTF do you have between those ears of yours? An extra crunchy, grade A, home made, jar pickled brain?

Why in hell do you think proper pick-up trucks have SOLID axles? And I say "proper", because I'm not talking about a wanna-be do it yourself home owner who uses his cutesy little, improper pick-up truck to haul the occasional washer or dryer.

You Sir, are an idiot. And a menace to other drivers. People like you are the reason there are so many laws in regards to towing.

havent filled the mark yet this year. My powerstroke took $138.00 of diesel yesterday at 3.65/gal, so i'm ok with premium gas @ 3.37 in a 18 gal tank!

The Mark VIII probably is underrated for towing, Ford, and all the other manufacturers for that matter, underrate US market cars for towing compared to what they would be rated for in other markets. Probably because they want you to buy their "proper" trucks, and probably because everybody is sue happy here. For example, the Toyota Yaris isn't supposed to tow anything here in the US, but in Canada it can tow 700lbs, and 2315lbs in the UK. The Honda CRV can tow 4400lbs in Europe, 1500lbs here in the US. My 02 Crown Vic is rated for 2000lbs, some newer versions are only rated for 1500lbs with no suspension changes, but older versions can tow 5000lbs.

I wouldn't say 6000lbs behind a Mark VIII is a good idea (though I did tow about 6000lbs once,) but I wouldn't have any qualms about towing ~3500lbs.

Down here on post I can do about 53 just above empty. And almost 60 bone dry, and premium is only $3.14 PG

my car gets the best all the time supershell 93oct.I even feed my maxima supershell it makes me feel beter inside,,,and I would never use my baby to tow,,not even a mini bike

would you ever consider using a mini bike to tow your baby?

Reviving an older thread, since I am curious how much it has gone up in your guys areas. This is from a couple weeks ago.

A full tank usually only last a week for me.

Quit complaining! Diesel is 4.09 here. I filled up my 40 Gallon main tank and the Auxiliary 110 gallon tank the other day and wondered when in hell we'll see 6 dollars per gallon. Why?

So I can buy another pick-up truck at a steal of a deal from some fool who bought his to keep up with the Joneses and can't afford the fuel, of course.
