I know its been covered but I want to make 100% sure before bolt it up.....ima leave the 1-2 spring out they say bottom spring but wuts classified as the bottm spring the one at the bottom of the piston between the cap and piston or the one that sits in side the piston/accumulator

dont quote me on this but i think it was the brown one been a while since i did this replace the purple spring and both 1-2 and 2-3 as they are known for failure

Not the spring inside the piston. That's the top spring. Put your spring inside the piston, install piston, and then the cap and c-clip. Get ready for a hard shift. It's not bad with normal driving but half throttle, it will jerk the neck a little and maybe even break the tires loose. Be careful on wet roads also. It can easily get out from under you if curving to the left while it's changing into 2nd.

Springs should be blue and purple if you updated the accumulator and springs. If you did not update, you should.

real men can get sideways turning to the right as well, not like your one wheel peels!

Its been rebuilt or serviced with updated accumulators but standard springs so idk and I know bout the shifts my buddy did it to his bird goin down the track on crappy prep work broke third gear loose with 4.10s

It should have also gotten the springs if the accumulators were updated during the rebuild. Anyway, now you know which spring to remove and let us know how you like it when you get done. It's not like you can't put it right back in if you don't like it, just a little time consuming.

DONE must mean you have completed all your new modifications, correct?

lol, "DONE" means he's done with the Mark VIII hassle with parts, fixing people's rides on their time and demand, talking to people over the phone about how to fix this and that. The list goes on and if he wants to finish his "DONE" definition, he will but it has nothing to do with mods to his car.

Breaking the tires loose on shifts is a waste of power and potentially dangerous in some conditions (turning in the wet etc.) I'd not set the shifts to hard if you using it as a daily driver. Firm is good, harsh isn't useful in any way imho...

I performed the jmod on my 96 lsc. I did the middle mild performance mod and left both 1-2 accumulator spirngs in. It won't break the tires loose but performs like it should have out of the factory. My trans does have a slow engagement into drive and maybe my line pressures are a little low. The previous owner put on one of those BM switches on my car that allows one to change the line pressure. It definitely firms up the shifts but allows a "clunk" noise when going into OD and you feel a "bump" when it downshifts coming to a stop. I now leave it in the normal position. My trans was overhauled by a local company a couple of yrs before I got the car and I asked them about the soft shifting it had. They said they put a transgo shift kit in everyone they rebuild but when I removed the valve body it had no such modifications. I didn't mess with any of the OD orifices as I didn't want a clunk going into or out of OD. Does anyone know how to speed up the drive engagement? I'm assuming these were slow from the factory but maybe my trans has some internal leakage.

Ok I did the jmod and fix the car from accident and now wen I drive it it feelsa like I lost a lot of power close to like 30 hp... my tbird is faster than this now I do only have 13 qaurts in it.....also I have to rev it up a little in order for it to engage am I just to low on fluid but y would it feel like I lost a lot of power....it feels like the e brake is on but its not

What specs did you use to drill by? Should only be 12 quarts to refill, not 13 but I think you have apparently drilled out a wrong hole or too many or drilled too big. J-Mod would allow all gears to engage quicker and there wouldn't be power loss if it was done right.

nvm, just read your other thread. Check balls is possible if not placed back where they are supposed to go. As for the gaskets, I would have ordered them from Maxx and let him know what you were doing and he would have sent you exactly what you needed. Wrong gaskets could be plugging up a hole ~shrugs~
