yes it will work...quite well actually however you will lose the luxury of the vehicle in terms of the smooth shifts that a factory setting gives you...I have a stage 2 shift kit which will lay rubbber from first to second without fail and feel a hard shift from second to third during hard acceleration.

Just ordered the springs and pistons along with a deep pan from max and ordered the Baumann valve body recalibration kit (thanks to slowmkviii for the recommendation)
The mark should be happy for a while or at least till I get the gears installed

Why not do the J-mod? isnt this effectivly the same thing? Leave the lower purple 1-2 spring out and take out the 2-3 spring and j-mod the plate, update the accumulators while your at it?

I cheated, I paid for the whole thing as a kit which included all gaskets, accumulators, filter and Springs.

I'm going to be modding my trans as soon as the weather gets warmer. That and I will need a trans fluid change by then so I might as well do it all at once since I'll have the pan down anyway.

Just trying to decide J-mod or go one step further

these cars should have come with at least a 3.73 gear and a 3200 stall from the factory...if you are going to do it do it right or as the saying goes "break it bad and fix it good."

No doubt about it, I put a 4:10 Track Loc in my 96' and that alone made it a ton better. However seeing as this car is pulling DD status a converter isn't gonna be the near future

Or at least till I have my WRX back on the road so I can have something to drive while I have the Mark apart.

I've used the Baumann kit on my car since 2005 or 2005. I like it a lot. I have it set to stage 5. It's very firm at low speeds, but at WOT, it BANGS. It's great. Wasn't super-expensive either.
