Running driving 97 car for parts $750 OBO (Craigslist)

Not sure but I think I saw an add for same car for like 4gs on the other side of the country. I would look for it but I am fleeling lazy after the safety meeting tonight.
 
I bet it has a lean on it! He probably went and got what he could from a title loan place and is also trying to just sell it as a parts car for whatever else he can get for it. Title loan companies will bug you for years if they can find you but I don't think there is anything legally they can do if they don't get the car and it has'nt been paid!

I wonder if I swap the vins!?!? :) I mean, I could rebuilt my entire car over with these parts, or just swap those...

I texted him, he says he "Lost it"

Now he says it was Salvaged in NY - Problem is, no way to buy it unless I physically go, and drive back... but youd really have to own a White Mark and bring the plate.

i wouldnt try that, i almost did last weekend and i got stopped, i would have been up :q:q:q:qs creek if i had stuck the tag on it. if all he did was lose the title he could file for a duplicate, his story is something shady, i'm going with the lien guess too, there is no way you Cant get a title if all you did was lose it.
 
Which is why its the perfect parts car. Or, if you know someone who has a mechanic shop, you can have them file a mechanic's lean for you.
 
i wouldnt go near it until i found out the whole story the last thing you need is to have a car in your posession that is stolen or wanted for some reason.
 
I doubt he would be stupid enough to put a stolen car on Craigslist since the local police routinely patrol it for stolen vehicles here (maybe he is that stupid), but I do believe the title loan deal. Virginia DMV has a service that for $15 will tell you who the car belongs to and its history. There is also a black on black 97 base with bad paint and a slammed suspension that the guy wants $1100 for, but the neon works and the AC does as well. I'm having the guy send more pics on that one, I am betting he would let it go for $600-$700.

It does happen. My buddy was a victim with a 4 wheeler that he purchased off craigslist that was hot so it does happen,just sayin!!

The paint is crap and the car is slammed, but he claims in email that everything from AC to neon works. I bet it could be snagged for $600-$700.
