I bet the cop was just jealous that its better than what hes drivin.

A lot of people assume that since im 23 i would be driving a riced up civic or an sti. But little do they know i love my luxury.

its actually very simple, you shout, get the fukc away from my car, then when they start coming over at you, THEN you pull out your gun and tell them to stop, THEN if they still come after you, open fire, if they run away instead you just let them, nothing in your car ir worth taking a bullet over, they will just move on and steal somebody else's sh!t, and they will remember which car not to fukc with

no laws broke there, if there are more than one of them, its not too hard to show that you where in danger of physical harm!
 
Didn't someone just post that a guy did that with his ak47, he fired a few shots at the ground to scare them away and he was arrested for reckless endangerment or something?
 
Yup.

Random rounds from a high powered rifle = reckless endangerment.

Now a well placed round into a kneecap = self defense. You keep him alive, but with one leg for the rest of his life.

Actually, and unfortunately thats not true Black.. Since you can NOT fire until you feel your life or your family's life is in physical danger, you can't intentionally shoot someone in the leg. You are supposed to place shots center mass and put the subject down, "because you felt ending his life was the only way to protect yourself" You are not allowed by law to fire wounding shots.

What seems like common sense, in the law isn't. I would normally think yea, just wound him and wait for the cops.. but it just isn't.

Of course in the heat of battle your not going to be shooting your best and should there have been a real threat your going to be nervous.. and could possible miss your centermass target and hit low, (aka Leg shot)

Honestly though, in that situation where I was seriously in danger. I would want to end them. No way in hell do I want them getting johnny cocrane or some crap and suing the heck out of me for pain and suffering (you know how stupid the world is) Or even worse, coming back for revenge....



I found it very interesting during my 8hour classroom instruction on the matter. I couldn't believe that If I woke up to someone trying to take my car, that I cannot use my gun to stop them, because if I shoot the suspect I wll be commiting a crime. The laws seem to protect the criminal very much.

They will say I didn't have to go outside and put myself in harms way and because I did do that, now a human being is dead (albeit a piece of crap scum of the earth)

It really sucks... I can go on and on with the scenarios they presented us, but theres just too much info and infinite "what if's" If your life is not in danger you can't do anything... and you going out there and putting your life in danger to protect your property, will not help you in court.

wow... I need a drink.. go criminals.....

Just saying... Get your permit to carry and do what you will ;)

I live in Texas, the most pro-gun state in the nation see for yourself:

(a) Except as provided in Subsection (b), a person is justified in using force against another when and to the degree the actor [he] reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to protect the actor [himself] against the other’s use or attempted use of unlawful force. The actor’s belief that the force was immediately necessary as described by this subsection is presumed to be reasonable if the actor:


(A) unlawfully and with force entered, or was attempting to enter unlawfully and with force, the actor’s occupied habitation,vehicle, or place of business or employment;

(B) unlawfully and with force removed, or was attempting to remove unlawfully and with force, the actor from the actor’s habitation, vehicle, or place of business or employment

As far as i know, there isnt a requirement in Texas to shoot center mass. You just have to maintain the person on your property, and cant shoot them as they are in retreat. Most civilians arent trained to shoot center mass anyways. I know i can disable someone with a blast to the kneecap, whether it be from my mossberg 500 or my wasr-10.

And yes in the heat of the moment, i wont be shooting my best but im pretty decent with iron sights and an m4...so im sure i wont miss.

Anyways its called the Castle Doctrine, we are one of the only states that have it.

You got it right there. I guess I should have said your particular state laws apply.

I know MN and other states, but MN (since I live here, for now) are working on getting the Castle Doctrine approved and that changes Everything... For the better.

So in Texas yes, your good but there are plenty of other states where criminals are protected.
 
We have a similar law in Colorado, we call it the Make My Day Law. Basically says that if a person unlawfully enters your home and you reasonably believe that they are going to commit an additional crime in your home, you may shoot to kill. I don't think it mentions going out in your driveway to protect your car or anything, but if you are inside the car, that is your domicile, and you may protect it from unlawful entrants. I think that is what the Texas law means - not that you could open your bedroom window and shoot a guy breaking into your LS outside - as sweet as that would be.
 
The Texas law allows for protection of your vehicle in your driveway, basically anywhere on your property.
 
Who said you had to tell them you were inside the house? Maybe you were walking home, and didn't notice them until you were up on the car? If the thief is dead, it's only your word.
 
Wow this has turned in to a coceal weapons thread. I know in Louisiana it's leagal to shoot a carjacker if you was being carjacked. Don't know about personal property on your property. Like mentioned above, every state is different and the laws have "gray" areas to me the way they are written.

i didn't say anything about any warning shots, i said to wait until they started to approach you after you gave them a verbal warning, before even pulling your gun, and then only fire if they keep coming.

and leg shots dont count, if you have the time to aim at somebody's leg to fire a warning shot, then you probably are not fearing for your life, however as many center mass shots as it takes to drop someone looks a lot more like you had real fear.

any body that runs toward somebody with a gun pointed at them is either trying to hurt you or is retarded and it just not cool to shoot retarded people, (unless they are dangerous and retarded, then its fair game and a public service at the same time)

more important, legal or not, if i believe you are a danger to me, I will shoot you, plain and simple.

Not the law you quoted. Be careful, it says OCCUPIED habitation, vehicle, or place of business. That means you are in it when being attacked. Could be sitting in your driveway, driving, or at a stoplight, but there better be someone in there who you're protecting.

i believe in karma, but not sure what ive done to bring these things on. but i did get a free 42 inch sony plasma the other day, it was $6000 when it was new 6 years ago. so thats a positive. guy wanted me to take it from his house when i installed his new led tvs. its happened a few times before with tvs that were believed to be not working and repair guys couldnt fix them, then i took them home and fixed them either for free or under $100.

insurance guy came out. $1737 in damage to the car, and their replacing my pioneer double din, dash kit, and harness, and giving me $100 towards install which goes to me as well. so after $500 deductible, $1337 to me, plus new equipment. maybe it works out after all
