Has anyone else run into this problem?
I replaced the Degas Reservoir and the stock cap doesn't fit. I ordered the replacement from Rock Auto.
Ordered a replacement cap that I just got and it doesn't fit either.

I guess I'm going to have to fix it by trial and error, but I figured I'd ask here if anyone had this issue and found a part that fits.

I'm pretty sure that the ill fitting cap is the culprit because it's letting the system lose fluid slowly, and it's not keeping it pressurized.

check for cracks in the degas bottle itself. A very common problem is the the plastic get brittle with the engine bay heat and hair-line crack form. once the engine is hot, cooling system pressurized, a very small weep occurs.

LOL, its a brand new Degas bottle. My problem isn't the bottle, its that the OEM and replacement caps do not fit it. The ID of the threaded portion is much bigger than the OD of the threads on the bottle so it won't screw on.

Sounds like you got a weird bottle, mine came with a cap... Not sure why you have more than one cap that does not fit?.

MY car had the stock cap when I bought it. That doesn't fit the replacement btl.

I bought a replacement cap thinking maybe the replacement btl had different specs or something. that doesnt fit bc the replacement cap is threaded the same as the stock cap. (which makes sense)

this sucks

Order a degas from max at 5 star ford, or get your money back for those caps and get the right one.

Thank you for the great response. What other vehicles have a degas bottle shaped exactly the same as an LS, with the holes in exactly the same places?

The cap is the same for all LS 00-05, so presumably the bottle is the same as well.

I don't mean to be a dick, but if you don't have something constructive to offer to the original question, lock it up.

I think you got a bad cast dega bottle you got a defect dega bottle, try to post a picture maybe someone can really help you that the first story about dega cap doesn't fit on bottle

I am having the same problem, the thread of the cap is much more course then the degas bottle. When the car heats up, fluid is bubbling in degas then out the cap. Is there a replacement cap?

Which bottle (part number) did you order? It's clearly incorrect. Looks like you'll need to get another one and do the replacement again. I am not envious.
FWIW, the Ford part comes with the big hose and the bleeder hose, but not a lid. The Dorman bottle comes with a cap, but no hoses. The Dorman is a MUCH thinner plastic than the Ford.

Balkamp from napa I would bet, I had the same issue and never got it figured out, the good thing was that it was still under warenty but I had to send the the whole thing back for just a cap. I even ordered a cap made by balkamp but it only fits the OEM bottle too. If ya ever find one that works let us know
