Free 97 ford car repair disc

Bummer. Desktop PC died last night and my Laptop is Windows 7 so now I cant see it. :(

I needed all the TQ specs for oil pan, valve covers and timing cover as well as plenum and trans bell housing.
 
I still have not got the '97 manual to work! I am running 32bit windows xp! I have no idea what I am doing wrong. So I download the file from the website, than I extract it and burn the file to a cd. I named the cd 97CAR18! When I close everything out and put the cd back in, I open the the disk and then open the "97CAR18" file and than I click "install". It comes up a blue screen that says "ford technical service publication", and the message is "Installation Destination: enter the location where you want to install publication" and it has C:\Desktop in the line. I press "ok" and it switches really fast to say that "my ford publication cd has been installed", so I press "ok" and it leaves the program and goes to the location with my "ford technical services" icon. Well when I click that, it takes me to the program with the big Ford oval at the top and the toolbar at the top, but whenever I try to click on an icon it lets me pick the service manual and car! Than whenever I do, it says to "Swap Volumes" "Please insert 1997 Car CD-ROM - Revision 24.0 into any cd-rom drive" I have tried to re-do it quite a few times with some different cd's. Different burn programs. Also, downloaded it quite a few times. If anyone knows what I am doing wrong could you let me know please. Thanks!!!
 
are you downloading my upload? if you are and its not working for you, try uninstalling it restart the pc, and reinstall. when it asks you for the locaton to install i dont think desktop should be there it should be something like ford/pubs or something, if this still dont work PM me your address and ill burn one for you and mail it to you..

David is that your upload? The link you put up? That is where I am going, is the link you added on the first page of this thread! The file factory! I do the waiting since I am not a premium user and than I finally download the file. Than I do exactly what I explained up there earlier. So I am going to P.M. you and send you my address! I have tried that too but I can't figure that out either. It just seems like when I download it I am not getting all of the files. Because like I said I get the program up but whenever I start going through it and try to open a section it tells me that I need to put in another volume! "Please insert 1997 Car CD-ROM - Revision 24.0 into any cd-rom drive" It's like all of the files were'nt on the one disk that I made!!!

Here is how it looks like when it works...
I Don't know why it must be called 97CAR18, mine called 97CAR22 & perfectly works...
And it seems to me you are wrong in "Please insert 1997 Car CD-ROM - Revision 24.0 into any cd-rom drive" - mine shows the same, but Revision 22.0...

My '97 disc is the 97CAR22 as well.
You can see what the label for the single year discs should be in the VOLUME.TXT or VOLUME.DBF files (Excel) in the x:\RELDATA\.... folder... depending on if its an older or newer disc...

There is one component it want to install (the DVD I mean) that is not compartible with any Win7 (SVG viewer 2.0). The SVG viewer 3.0 is compartible, you can install it separately. Also the DVD is compartible with x64 too, again except SVG viewer.
The 97CD is fully compartible with Win7-x32 :)
 
There is no label at all on DVDs, it's identified by the file in the root folder.
 
Nickpims that is what it looks like after extract it!!! Except diff. file name! But what do I do after I get to that point? And the part where it says to insert another cd. That is exactly what I was reading as I was typing it! So I was basically quoting the message!
 
It is the root folder of the disc, 97CAR22 is the disc label, and you can see that it is really root in the adress string ("D:\" is my cd/dvd drive letter).
How did you burn the cd? Program, method. Because the iso file in that archive seems to be corrupt...

Also, people, can you recommend me a good filehost, where I can put my tested & known good iso's to make you download them?

I was only half serious. I posted the link, but I do find it annoying when people politicize their avatars and/or sigs, especially when we have a cesspool separate forum for it. :)

just click this link and download. sorry the download site is cheesie, if someone knows of another free file sharing site id be happy to change it. just remember this is a zipped folder, unzip then you will have the ISO. you can run it with a virtual drive or you can burn it. when you burn this, please make sure you name the disc 97CAR18 it has to be named that or it wont work. ENJOY!!!

This sucks I had some problems with my computer and I think that had alot to do with why I could'nt get this to work. So I formatted my computer and reinstalled Windows and everything is better now! But when I try to download the file, the website says "my free download slot has expired" from when my computer was messed up and I downloaded the file like a hundred times! lol Now I can't download it to see if it works! Oh well guess the disk will be here in a day or so!!! Lol Thanks for sending the disk!

Hey I went and tried the download and the first time I did it said the slot was expired. Not sure if it was me or my computer but I just walked on it anyway.
 
Well than it must just be expired. Maybe daviddc114 is going to have to upload it again or something, idk! Some of us have discs coming but not everyone. Some people will still have to download it when they need it. Also I will make a thread when I get my disc in the mail saying that I will make a copy of the disc and send it to anyone that needs one.
