i'm so sick of it falling off..I've tried the 2 part loctite kit, 1 peice rv glue, super glue and nothing will work.. I'm preparing the surface correctly and everything but it keeps breaking. I do realize that super glue cant hold up to heat/cold that well compared to the rv kits.Though the sg seems to hold up just as well . Tried the 2 pc kit again yesterday and it fell off when trying to get the metal tab fully seated this morning. I'll admit i used alittle nudge to get it that last 1/8 the of a inch...But still..........

I used a razor blade on both surfaces to get off the old glue. Cleaned both surfaces and held the tab on the glass for 3 minutes.

It first started when i installed my 3 12's. I've had to glue it weekly since. Since then i changed my setup (not nearly as loud) And it still does it.

The only thing i've tried was glueing the metal tab to a 3" diameter "saucer" and then glueing the saucer to the windsheild for more surface area..

Anyone have any other tricks or idea's or should i just learn to use my side mirrors. Keep in mind i have the compass and plug for the mirror on it.
 
Sapperfire had this problem too. The tricks are only use a very tiny single drop. Not a big drop, just a tiny one. Then hold in place as you did and then tape it in place so it wont pull at all. Let it sit for 48 hours and then put the mirror on. He did that and now its held for 6 months. :)

yeah, i read that less is more when it comes to reglueing it. i used abit more then alittle but didnt soak it. i used 3 little drops..1 on top,1 middle 1 bottom..
 
Actually mine fell off again last week

I use the kit with the crush cylinder cleaner in it....clean glass and tab with that little glass cylinder qtip, let it dry for a couple minutes, then apply 1 very tiny drop of adhesive to the center of the metal tab, carefully place tab in the marked area ( as you should mark the edges of it on the OUTSIDE of the windshield for a guide) then firmly hold pressure on it with thumb for 30 seconds, then place some tape over it and let it cure for at least 1 day, then put your mirror back up....and turn the bass down

when they say 1 drop they mean 1 drop...
They only give you so much because...it's very hard to sell just 1 drop
 
Thats your problem. Three drops is 300% too much. One single tiny drop in the CENTER of the button. No more, no less.

guess next time i'm at wally word i'll pick up another and only use 1 drop...

Though i'll never understand if you put more glue on its worse...o well, they made it so they'd know best.
 
bite the bullet and call a glass company, they can glue it with the good stuff for very little $. also turn down your stereo.
 
I bought some stuff from O'Reilly's and it cost more than the normal mirror glue but I had to have it for the three 10's in the trunk. It fell off all the time but when I got whatever it is they have (I forget the name of it or who makes it) I put just a little on it. It had to be mixed but I only put the metal up and the used Gorilla tape, big black duct tape to hold it in place for a day or two and it never fell again until the car exploded and my windshield cracked all over.

I also sanded the metal with 800 grit to give some roughness and something to bond to, then the alcohol, let both dry and then bonded and taped. All I can say is that the three 10's couldn't bring it down anymore. The only problem I had after that was since the mirror wouldn't fall anymore, it would do a nose dive after a few bass beats and then I would be looking down at the console.

well, just went and bought a permatex kit. only put 1 little drop on this time so i guess i''l let it cure and i'll see if it holds when i wake up. If not i'll take it to a glass place once i land a job..funny part is they'd prob charge me the same amount that i paid for the 2 kits in the last day.
 
ok, put her on and was very gentle..lol..Let it sit for 2 days (w/o mirror) and so far so good....crosses fingures... I guess we'll find out when i play some music..

All you need to do right is prep it and 1 little drop...i guess it took me acouple tries to get that through my head


As of now its holding..Took a drive and she still seems snug..
 
I've tried the kits a few times on different cars and never had them last for more than a few weeks or so. I always end up at a glass place, and they have never charged me yet to do it. If it ever happens again to me, I'm heading to the shop first, even if they charge me a bit...
