Two teenagers broke into my car...

They didn't get very far, because luckily my neighbor was watching, and before he could call the police, they saw him and ran. This was at 12:45 am Tuesday night. He's an old guy who sits on his porch at night. He said they had the interior light on. I don't know how they did it, but the side window seal was bent back so they must have jimmied it. I can't imagine they figured out the keyless entry but anything's possible, and the numbers are a bit worn down.

I bought a Club and installed it, and removed everything I care about from the inside of the car. Luckily my stereo has the detachable face.

I considered sleeping in the car with the seat all the way down and my Glock 27 at my side, but my wife would freak out. So I'm just hoping they lose interest.

Nothing seemed amiss this morning.

Anybody else experienced this? Any ideas?
 
I'm sure it was just wrong car wrong time, and just a crime of opportunity for them. Good them they were scared off before too much damage happened.
 
Yeah, crime of opportunity where they just steal all your stuff from inside the car.
They probably won't come back thanks to your neighbor.
 
Be careful about pulling a pistola on someone breaking into your car. I pulled my baby desert eagle on a guy trying to break into my car on the side of the street. He had no buglary tools and when the cops got there I got arrested. Not to mention the damn cops almost shot me. After fighting the charges for two years, I had to do a 30 piece in the county jail. I was originally charged with unlawful use of a weapon, false imprisonment and menacing. Got everything but the menacing dropped. Although I live in Illinios and the cops in my town are dip:q:q:q:qs. Never did get the gun back either.

That's it right there - Illinois vs. Kentucky. If you even own a gun in Illinois you're considered a suspect and a dangerous person. Kentucky leans more towards Texas as far as gun laws are concerned.

And I'd never pull a pistol unless I 'feared for my life.' You can't use deadly force or even threaten it just for protecting your property.

At the same time, I wouldn't try to catch some thieves without my gun on me.

But I am sad to hear you didn't get the Baby Eagle back. Bastards. I finally talked my brother into moving out of Illinois after a few years - he owns more than a few guns and wanted a CCW. Now he's in Baton Rouge.

True, but honestly going out to protect your property against an intruder should make you "fear for your life" because being that they are deviant in nature, you have no way of knowing what their intentions are, how desperate they are, nor if they themselves have a weapon.

I caught the punk that robbed my wifes car...long story short I had him on the ground crying (in front of my wife which she thought was amusing), and I ended up making the courts get my monetary value back from the items he stole :D

That's why I love Texas, we carry guns everywhere...mess with us we shoot you, then ask questions

Just pushing the keypad or pulling up on the handle will get the interior light on.
 
It didn't help that I was 21, he was 30. I had misdemeanors out the wazzo on my record, and he had traffic :q:q:q:q. It was my word against his. The arresting officer had just busted me a year before this for under 2.5 and para. So he already hated me. I was lucky the guy didn't say I was trying to rob him. I'd probably still be in prison.
 
This is why one of my next mods on my car will be video cameras with audio, I've been watching so many videos of police brutality...and it always comes down to your word vs their word...video doesn't lie

one of my neighbors has a camera aimed where he parks his car in our parking lot, so naturally I park right next to his car

I personally think public hangings should still be in practice for theives, back in the old west you were hung for stealing horse or cattle..because it was lively hood...well I use my car to get to work, and to go get my food..how is that any different

the modern day laws and peoples ideas have gotten way too soft on criminals, I think if you break the law, you should have no rights, instead we stuck them in a free hotel, give them food and free cable, exercise equipment and conjigle visits...there are some instances of wrongly accused, and I'm gonna get into that debate
 
I have a Gamo Whisper, it's an awesome air rifle, i've had it for about 5 years, great for killing grackles and stray cats that mate right outside my bedroom window.
As far as quiet goes, I've got a Mathews Switchback XT 70# 29inch draw, with about 3doz arrows all fitted with either mechanical or fixed blade broad heads...I used to work in an archery shop so I have lots of hunting equipment for free or real cheap,
a couple of my favorite hunting items are the coon traps, I purchased those when someone kept breaking into my old jeep and was trying to steal the subs and amps, everything in that jeep was bolted or bolted AND welded to the car, the sub box had 4x 1 1/8 gauge bolts that were 6 inches long going thru the frame (not just the floor) and both amps were bolted then tack welded to the floor boards under the seats
after the 3rd window I replaced I then stuck the coon traps on top of the amps under the seats and removed the interior lights so anyone inside the car could not see under the seats....have fun with THAT
another favorite is the trebble hook trap, just go buy a box of the 3 prong hooks and string them under the seats like a big tangle of snares (I say under the seats because that's where I put them in the jeep)

I used to be a Sapper in the Army (if any of you were wondering what my name meant) and I went to Sniper (Ft Sherman/Davis,Panama) and Ranger school, anyway my main job was mobility/counter mobility which entailed the use of high explosives and "booby" traps
hidden pit falls, leg snares and trip wires/pressure plate traps were my specialty

Be careful setting booby traps. There's established case law that using unnecessary force like that to protect property can get you sued - and you will lose. If the thief is injured you will end up paying.

Of course, in Texas, you can shoot them in the head as they burglarize and you'll get off. :D
 
there was a guy around here that had his stereo stolen twice, the third time he lined the back of it with razors

one morning he came out to find his stereo pulled forward about 3 inches and blood stains all over his seat
