Just say no to the snake

I've searched high & low spending hours @ junkyards & hubcap shops alike. No luck fitting stock lincoln anything on these wheels. The clips aren't deep enough.

Got a little update.

Work was crazy but still managed to get a couple roughed in.
After machining they were pretty rough, I spent a little time and sanded them with 1000 silicon grit paper, then just a quick polish.

Used a King size Sharpie to see what the back would look like.
Here is a rough example of the raised star.
One the right is .02 tall one on the left is .04 tall.

I am pretty happy with the .04 tall cap.

Yup, I want a set. My damn Cobra star caps are already pealing off. What a waste of $90 :(

Ford nut I normally run precision grinders like, mitsuie, okamotos, brown and sharp, moore, parker majestic very little milling though
Didn't know B&S made a grinder, what is it a surface grinder? I first started in this trade Running B&S screw machines. back in 79
Those came out awesome, man! Nice work!!
Thanks!
Have you shipped mine yet? :D
Nope.... but found a big bar of stock :)

OK, my cap size is 60mm across. Can fudge .5 mm under but cant go over at all. I am wondering about finding someplace to send them to be chromed. If anyone knows a place by them let me know and I will ship them to where ever the place is for chroming.
If I do find a chromer is it possiable to shave 1 more mm off the diamater?
The only other option would be to paint them black and sand the paint off the crest and try to polish it then clear coat it. I have all the paint for that so not a big deal but chrome with a white or black crest would look cool. :)

Seriously, just let me know what to send and I am ready whenever. I can pay right now if you like.

Nope....not done but I found Brandon......passed out under Stacks car.

is that why he didnt answer my phone call
and I use a B&S surface grinder (618 micromaster) set up as a roto grinder
and we use a 100+ year old B&S OD grinder

I also would be inserted in a set of caps if the price is right I might even be able to give your some 6016 to use

Very nice work, Kirk! Those will look tons better than the cobra caps.

Cool I spend most of my day behind a 5 axis schutte grinder.

This is going to be a while......a paying job is going on the machine, not sure when it will be open again for play time.

Update!!!

I got my 18s back they needed a little work to clean up.
Someone said they would shine them up for me, but they came back to me in need, so I had to spiff them up a little before installing the caps.

I need to clean up the calipers, and do some detail work.

I Don't know if I can make more of these.....our shop turned on, its going to be hard to get machine time.

If any one if you guys want a set for sure let me know....I will try to squeeze it in.

Can't please anyone... jesus chirst... :D

Those look SO SO SO SO SO much better than the stupid snake caps...

The new mark looks awesome, Kirk. Great touch with the Lincoln star center caps. I much prefer a look that looks like it could've come from the factory that way.
