I had a recent tranny rebuild on my 98 this past January. The car will not shift if I floor it after the car is warmed up. The car shifts fine if I drive like a normal person and even shifts fine if I get on it a little bit. However, if I try to open it up it will not shift. I was wondering if anyone has advice before I return to the shop about this transmission. I tried the search function and came up with no results. Thank you everyone.

I heard that speed demon coils are supposed to fix this issue or have been known to. :D

Seriously, that transmission needs to go back to whoever said they rebuilt it. Either you are really abusing that thing or they never rebuilt it. Maybe they just added a part or two and charged you for a rebuild. It's kinda hard to beat down a 98 trans.

The fluid level is fine. I drive hard but there no way I beat this tranny down, first time I tried to floored it was about a week ago when I found this out. My last resort was to return to the shop but it looks like I have no other option. Today I’m gonna drain the tranny fluid, I didn’t stress the use of mercon-v to the mechanic so I am hoping this works. I would just rather not lose my car for a duration. Thanks guys.

Just so you know, a full flush of the fluid and replace will require 12 quarts. If he was any type of mechanic at all, you shouldn't have to stress that it needs Mercon V but I know what you're saying. Air ride being off needs to be stressed before lifted, oil type, trans fluid type and many many other things.

Some mechanics just know. Some don't care enough to know.

ive never seen mercV fix a slipping concern, i wouldnt wast my money on fluid, just take it back to them

It smells fine and has a pink hue. I am going to bring the car back after all. The weather today canceled my original plans to change the fluid today. Thanks for the advice everyone. I just hate to be without my mark.
