Was There a 1982 4-Door Continental Mark VI?

My father and I were just discussing about the different cars he has had over the years and he mentioned he had owned a 1982 Lincoln Mark VI 4 door. We looked it up and there are definitely people advertising the 4 door Lincolns as a mark VI. Just curious if it was actually a Mark VI or that this is just a common error. I never knew Lincoln used the Mark name for other Lincoln vehicles. Any insight would be appreciated.

I owned one, the Mark VI was basically a town car with different trim it was offered as the town car, 2 door Mark and Continental Mark VI 4 door.
PS back then you could get just about anything you could pay for stuffed under the hood, my 83 had a 351W with 4 barrel carb.

I am fairly sure thats a sedan front nose. The Coups looked like this:

The brown one on top, Laser, is a Mark III (you can even see tire hump). All Mark second gen IIIs, IV, Vs were coupes.

The second is a Continental.

ALL Lincolns are Continentals - sorta.

^ Those are the formal names in the past.

Or let me put it this way. There was the Lincoln brand and the Mark model. So there were continentals and Marks here and there. The Town Car is relatively new and was a trim package (sorta) on the Continental. I think it was the 80s when Town Car really became a distinct line.

As for the Mark being a Continental. Here is a Mark IV, identical to the one I owned. You can see that it even said "Continental" around the tire hump.

And to answer the OP. Only the Mark VI was offered in 4-door. So yes, its the one time in the series they could come that way.
