Static on AM radio stations when car is running. Clean reception when car is not running. Has anyone found the fix for this problem?

Could be totally wrong/making this up, but I thought I read somewhere that the coils sometimes cause interference and static.

Do you have aftermarket HID"S, if so then that is the problem. I had great reception on AM till I installed the HID's.

A common problem that causes static is the antenna connector on the rear window where it attached to the grid is broken, try checking that.

Window tint, especially metallic, will seriously degrade AM reception. Mine is virtually gone.

I was trying to get AM reception the other day too with no luck, Maybe it's the window tint. Whatever, I listen to AM maybe once a year for a football or baseball game, mostly keep the Ipod plugged in.

I have had static and engine noise through the radio on my LS. Dealer found a grounding issue with the amp in the trunk. They just ran another grounding wire from the amp to the body and that fixed the problem.

Maybe this will help. Good luck.

I used to get these two specific FM stations crystal clear where I lived. Randomly one of them never comes in clear anymore, but it is still perfect in other peoples vehicles... It used to be good in the LS, but something changed and now I can very rarely get a clean signal from that specific channel.

Car has always had tint so I am not sure...

who listens to AM any more, except to listen to a game every now and then, and i have tint and have no problems

Ceramic tint won't cause interferences, metallic might/will.
