Ok so after I run the car for awhile and get out. I go back and start it and it runs rough then dies. I have to start it and give it gas until i put it in gear. Just mainly does it when its hot outside. Any ideas would be helpful im tired of the car doing this all summer long.

Swap out the TPS and the IAC and you should be problem free. Do both at the same time so that you will know both parts are new and you will only have to get back there only once. If you have help around, remove the hood. It makes the IAC swap a lot easier. Each part will run you around $40 to $50 each. You'll need a new TB gasket also and the IAC should come with a new gasket.

let me just tell you, the IAC is no Fun on a gen 1!!!!

I had to lay on the engine and remove the TB, then pray you dont do what I did and cross thread the damn bolts putting it back in as you only have enough room for a wrench, get an 8 MM ratchet wrench preferably one with a swivel head.. or else its 1/16th turn at a time... BIATCH!!! :bash::slam

You know it may almost be worth it to remove the entire intake system to get at them better.. the next time I have to do this or anything back there thats just what I'm going to do...

I used something like this but what I have is about 1ft. long and I can put the socket needed to remove the IAC. Mine doesn't have a straight handle on it, it has a T handle and works like a ratchet because it has a movable switch on the side. I don't know who makes it because I don't think they even make it anymore but Sears would have something like it and maybe in different lengths.

So, imagine this thing with a T type handle instead of the straight handle with a slide switch on the side and that skinny bendable part being over a foot long with the ability to accept 1/4" sockets. All I have to do is break the bolts loose and then finish the rest up with the other thing. I also got another bolt to match the shorter bolt and used that because it doesn't need that long bolt in there. Both short lengths reach and hold just fine.

The IAC is annoying to mess with but with the bendable deal, I can knock one out now in 15 minutes if the cowl and hood is out of the way. That's R&R

have you had the fun of replacing your IAC yet?
I could not use that since there is just no room in my car to get a socket of any type on the back of the bolt... and cant get into the bolt on the far side due to fuel lines and other wire looms... I think I will just take the whole damned thing off next time..

Good luck!:D

thanks for the help i will try and do those as far as tools go i have something i think will work. I see the damn tool man every week.

Yes, I have replaced 3 IAC's and each time, I get quicker and quicker. I done the 93 R&R, 94 R&R and then the 93 was wrecked. The 94 was acting funny with the idle so I removed the IAC from the 93 before the engine was pulled and then pulled the one off the 94 and put the one that was on the 93 onto the 94. Confused yet because I am.

You should try doing the EGR valve lol.

haha that was confusing. Luckily i did the egr with the trans out made it alot easier.
